Resting by getting ahead.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! I am resting today by getting ahead. I have a few messes to clean up since I haven’t been home much. Between classes, life, and looking for a new truck it’s been a little hectic this week. I do find that if I procrastinate then I get a bit anxious and don’t rest well. The only solution I have found for this is to do the work. Sometimes I re-prioritize and sometimes I just knuckle down and get it done.

Today is one of those days for me where I will need to get it done. For today grocery shopping, re-organizing my budget, cleaning the studio, laundry, cleaning, and creating a bunch is on my list. Thankfully it is a short week for school with the Presidents’ Day holiday coming up. So what’s on your list for today?

Be kind.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. I was reminded by a quote that said…”Repetitive complaining will attract things for you to complain about. Repeated gratitude will attract things for you to be thankful about.”

I can bring all these great events and places to volunteer, but if there is not the right attitude in me it is for naught. So for today I will not be talking about Bingo or Quilts or anything else. Today I will remind each of us, including myself, to be kind. To really focus on being kind.

Spinning apes and how to create them.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Watch as I create a card with a spinning ape. You will want to cut a piece of card stock for a card base and score in the middle. Then you will cut mats of the same color that are light enough to stamp on at 5 1/4″ X 4″ and 5″ X 3 3/4″. The smaller mat you will cut with two circles. Make sure there is a 3/8″ gap between the center circle and the cut out so the pennies can slide in the gap. Stamp as wanted.

For the slider portion you will use two pennies and two dimensionals and create a sandwich. This will slide in to create your spinner portion.

The holidays are still here.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Did you know that certain products from the Holiday Catalog have been carried over? Even though you are done with the Christmas holiday Stampin’ Up! is not. So start your Christmas cards early and get them done this year.

Here’s the link to the carry over list…https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/products/10120/holiday-favorites.

So let me know what you would like for Christmas…2019. Remember that there are a few products in the Annual Catalog also for the holiday season.

Rectangles at an angle.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to talk to you about the Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies. When you put them in the Big Shot straight across they make a big clunky noise as they roll through the machine. Instead place them at an angle so they go through smoother and also tend to not bend as much.

If you do forget they will just clunk a bit. If they bend just run through at an angle to straighten them back out.

Next week is Card Class on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday (morning or afternoon). Be watching for an invitation in the next day or so.

And then Lisa is hosting her own Card Class on Wednesday evening.

It’s a super rest day.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! Today is a day of rest for me. What is it for you?

Today I get a day of rest with awesome commercials. Yes, I watch the Super Bowl…for the commercials and the halftime show. Not really for the game.

Giving back locally.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. Last week I talked about the quilt raffle and bingo on the 15th benefiting the 29 Palms Community Food Pantry. These tickets are still available. Contact me if you want to go or get tickets.

But this week is another opportunity. Today I am bringing you the Parade of Homes coordinated by Reach Out Morongo Basin. It is on Sunday, February 17 of Presidents’ weekend. You will get to walk through 5 eclectic homes starting in Morongo Valley and ending in 29 Palms. One house even has a wall that spins. Your $25 ticket includes the tour of the five homes, lunch at the Park Rock Cafe, and live music. If you have any questions you can contact me or Robin at Reach Out Morongo Basin (760-361-1410).

Remember to look local first before driving down the hill or shopping online.
