Are you still resting?

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day we usually rest and recharge.

I don’t know about you, but I am about done resting. I am recharged and ready to go so tell that nasty virus I want to come out and play. Since that probably won’t work, instead I will keep working and planning ahead. So could you use some help for Easter?

I bet if you have kids and have been inside with them constantly you are probably re-thinking buying candy for their Easter basket. So here are some ideas to fill their basket with no candy.

  • Crafting supplies, of course (Bet you didn’t see that one coming.)
  • Stickers
  • Balloons
  • Glow sticks
  • Temporary tattoos
  • Toy cars
  • Bracelets, rings, or earrings
  • Bouncy balls
  • Whistles
  • Jumprope
  • Slap bracelets
  • Bubbles
  • Silly putty
  • Money
  • Books
  • Gift card for after you can go out again

I hope this helps.

Happy Crafting!

P.S. I have gift certificates if you want them to pick.

Reflection…

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Since most of us have some extra time to do some thinking right now, have you? Have you been reading some self help books? Taking some extra time for some self care?

This quote came up when I was googling the term “give back”.

What does this mean to you?

For me it is a simple reminder to treat each day as something special. Each day that I wake up is another someone else may not have gotten. Each day I have a chance to make a difference which is not only a choice, but also my duty as I take up space on this planet. So what impact are you looking for or creating today?

Creating with a drip.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I am giving you directions on how to create three cards all with the same technique called the drip. For this technique you will need a card base, mat, a piece of white card stock, scrap of card stock for words, aqua painter (paint brush and water), and adhesive.

For the card on the left…

  • Cut Thick White Card Stock to 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″. On the 8 1/2″ side score at 4 1/4″. This is your card base.
  • Cut Blueberry Bushel Card Stock to 5 1/4″ X 4″. Attach wish Snail Adhesive to your card base. This is your mat.
  • Cut Whisper White Card Stock to 5″ X 3 3/4″. Drip ink and water droplets from Aqua Painter to create background. Let dry overnight. Then trim to create background and glue with Snail Adhesive.
  • Stamp sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink and punch out. Adhere with Dimensionals.
  • Attach pearls.

For the card on the right…

  • Cut Thick White Card Stock to 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″. On the 8 1/2″ side score at 4 1/4″. This is your card base.
  • Cut Seaside Spray Card Stock to 5 1/4″ X 4″. Adhere with Snail Adhesive. This is your mat.
  • Cut Whisper White Card Stock to 5″ X 3 3/4″. Drip ink and water droplets from Aqua Painter to create background. Let dry overnight. Then cut in half to create background and glue with Snail Adhesive.
  • Cut border with coordinating dies from Ornate Garden Suite (available April 1). Attach with Snail Adhesive.
  • Stamp accent with Seaside Spray ink in top left corner.
  • Stamp sentiment with Seaside Spray ink and cut out with coordinating die. Attach with Dimensionals.

For the card in the middle…

  • Cut Thick White Card Stock to 4 1/4″ X 11″. On the 11″ side score at 5 1/2″. This is your card base.
  • Cut Rococo Rose Card Stock to 5″ X 3 3/4″. Run through embossing folder in Ornate Garden Suite. Attach with Snail Adhesive. Tip: Go a little slower with the adhesive so the paper does not tear. This is your mat.
  • Cut Whisper White Card Stock to 5″ X 3 3/4″. Drip ink and water droplets from Aqua Painter to create background. Let dry overnight. Then punch or die cut to create background and attach with Dimensionals.
  • Take a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock and stamp a single daisy in Lovely Lipstick Ink. Cut out with Snips. Attach with Glue Dots.

How many licks?

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Do you remember the Tootsie Roll commercial with the owl and the kid? And the question is asked how many licks does it take to get to the center of the tootsie roll pop. Did anyone ever figure it out? That’s not the point, I promise.

My point is this…if you don’t want to lick an envelope because it tastes bad or you don’t want a paper cut or you don’t want to spread your germs, use your aqua painter. Fill your aqua painter with water and use to moisten the flaps of envelopes.

Drips can be art.

It’s Technique Tuesday! By now many of you are probably thinking my closet is clean, I’ve dusted, and finished my pile on my desk…now what? So I thought I would give you something new and easy that even the kids could do.

So grab a piece of white card stock, shimmery white card stock, or watercolor paper. If you don’t have a big one then grab scraps and create a mosaic background afterwards. Then you will need an aqua painter. If you don’t have one then grab a cup of water and a paintbrush. An eye dropper will work too. You will then need some ink pads. Stamp some ink on a clear block. If you don’t have blocks a piece of waxed paper will work in a pinch. Then grab your aqua painter or paintbrush. Drop a few drops of water on the block with ink. Give it a swirl and begin dripping inked water on to your card stock. Let dry to create your background.

If you would like to create this with me grab your favorite words and a big punch to go along with this. You will also need a card base and maybe a mat if you are cutting up your drip background. You have until tomorrow night to get it together. Join me on the Live at 7 pm on Wednesday to create with me. http://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni

Are we there yet?

It’s Management Monday! Here’s what’s happening this week.

By the Executive Order coming from the Governor of California I am deemed a non-essential business. (Don’t argue. I know. But that is what it says.) So I am not allowed to have you break the stay at home order.

This is what that means.

  • No Open Time on Mondays until this mess finishes.
  • No in person classes.
  • No deliveries or pick-ups in person.

So if you have ordered from me then I will deliver via USPS. For future orders they will be placed online individually so they are shipped directly to you. Shipping is slightly higher ($6.95 or 10%, whichever is greater) but at least you can still get your crafting supplies.

I am currently working on a virtual class that will be coming out on March 30.

The Rubber Rummage Sale will most likely not be held on April 4. Right now the alternate date is April 18.

And, if all this hasn’t driven you a bit crazy, then think about joining the card tree. I am putting together a group of crafters that want to send a card and receive a card for encouragement. This does not have a deadline. Once you join I will give you someone else to send to and tell you who is sending to you.

If you would like to help Iris then please order online at http://jonidaniel.stampinup.net and use host code KVCNCBCQ. This host code will be good until noon on March 31. If you would like FREE shipping (I will reimburse) then please have your product (before tax and shipping) total $50 or more.

Thank you for being part of this crafty family!

Breaking up the routine.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! Normally I would tell you to rest and recharge, but I think we are all over that now. Instead here are some ideas to break up the routine.

  • Stand up and stretch.
  • Exercise.
  • Face time with a friend.
  • Watch church on-line.
  • Make a difference.
  • Learn a joke.
  • Join the card tree to encourage other crafters.
  • Have breakfast for dinner.

What ideas do you have?

Do you need a boost?

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I was wondering since we can’t get together does anyone want to be a part of a card tree? Do you know what that is? You say you are interested and then I start a line of who is mailing to whom. You make a card and send it to whomever is next in line. I think we could all use some happy mail these days.

So if you are interested please comment so I can start constructing the “tree”.

I thought we might all need to stay connected and encourage each other.

Happy Crafting!
