Call a friend.

It’s Friendship Friday!  This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.  When you have had a hectic week remember to take a minute to re-charge.

This week has been pretty crazy for me.  First my truck stopped working on Wednesday and had to get a tow home.  Then the computer updated yesterday and everything was missing or wrong.  After I got the truck to the shop and the computer back up I stood up and took a deep breath.  As I exhaled I whispered, “not today, I still won”.

For many of you that know me well, you know that I view much of life as a game.  Life is often not fair, but it is a challenge.  Most things I view as hurdles to get over.  And some days there are many hurdles or they are higher than usual and I choose to go around.  Life is almost always entertaining if viewed through the right lens.

I am not writing this for sympathy, but instead so you can have a glimpse of how I re-charge.  After all was accomplished and brought back to square one I sat down and called a dear friend.  I caught up with a dear crafter that has moved that I miss.  I am so grateful for good people in my life.  The stuff will be fixed, replaced, or thrown through an open window but people are something to cherish.  I appreciate the time friends invest in me and I hope I put as much back into them as they do me.

I would encourage you today to reach out to someone that is on your mind.  There is a reason.  That call or letter or message might be just what your friend needs to get back on their feet.  Or better yet it might be just what you need too.

Making leaves into flowers.

It’s Tutorial Thursday!  I know that you can figure out how to create a leaf background by randomly stamping leaves all over your card stock.  So here are some other ideas to create with that same leaf stamp.  I made a sunflower and a layered poinsettia.

To view the video on how to create these please go to Leaves into Flowers Video (https://youtu.be/dAOSFimaD-o).

When a ruler is more than that.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!  I know that you understand that a ruler is meant to be used for creating straight lines.  And once in a while it is even used to stir something or slide something out from behind something else.  But did you know it could be used to curl things as well?  Yes, the straightest thing can be used to create curl.

Take a slim piece of card stock resembling a ribbon’s width and spritz with water.  You will want it to be damp, but not dripping.  Curl around the ruler and leave to dry.  Once dry the paper will keep its shape.

Leaves become a flower.

It’s Technique Tuesday!  Today we are stretching our supplies and thinking creatively.  The Rooted In Nature set keeps giving me more ideas.  Yes, they are beautiful leaves.  But, did you know, that those same leaves become beautiful flowers?

Definition of rest.

It’s Sabbath Sunday and it’s my day of rest.  I googled “rest” and several things came up.  These examples are from the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

  1. We will not rest until we discover the truth.
  2. The workers were resting in the shade.
  3. He is resting comfortably after his ordeal.
  4. She went to her room to rest for awhile.
  5. The coach canceled practice to rest his team.

Other than the first one every other one is about allowing your body to find comfort to restore.  This allows for you to come back stronger and again to do more of what you had been doing.  I know with working out that the rest days are so important as long as you have done the work.

The second thing that pops up with rest is restaurants.  This implies to rest you must not work.

How do you enjoy your days off?
