So grateful to be still.

It’s Sabbath Sunday!  In the last few days Joel (hubbie) and I have had some pretty big events.

Joel coordinated the first ever Tuba Christmas for our area.  There were about 20 players, merchandise, registration, spectators, and volunteers.  It was a great night for music with perfect weather (55 degrees and virtually no wind).  Congratulations to your first of many events.

Yesterday I was at the Yucca Valley Community Center for the Holiday Craft Faire.  It was one of the biggest fairs I have attended for quite some time.  There were pictures with Santa, candy canes, snow to be played in, and crafters galore.  It was steady people all day long and a great event.

But now I sit here with my feet up in my pajamas and I am so grateful to be still.  It feels so good to be still (at least for a little while).  I have a craft room to clean up and inventory to be taken before tomorrow.  But for now, I am still.  I get to enjoy my tea (no coffee for me) in peace.

What is your activity you enjoy doing before everyone gets up and your world starts moving?

Year-End Closeout

It’s Sale Saturday!  So it wouldn’t be with the theme of today to not talk about the next sale.  Yes, the next one.  Yes, we just finished one.

Thank you for all that participated in the Extravaganza Sale.

Now I am waiting to get more information on what is being carried over from the Holiday Catalog and what is retiring.  The Year-End Closeout will be a sale on what is retiring from the Holiday Catalog.  It will be while supplies last.  I don’t know how good the discounts are going to be or how fast things will sell out.

So if it is a must I would get it before the 5th so it doesn’t sell out.  If it’s a “nice to have”, but not a must, then please tell me what is on your wishlist.  If I know before the 5th I can be looking as soon as the sale hits.  This will mainly be from the Holiday Catalog.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me.

Knowledge is power.

It’s Friendship Friday!  This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.  I firmly believe that in order to give back we need to have knowledge which turns to wisdom.  I continuously read to keep myself on top of what is going on.

Recently I came across an interesting article in Success that lists out ways to be extraordinary.  Give it a quick read and maybe you will get some new ideas on how to give back.

Three textured cards.

It’s Tutorial Thursday!  Today I have three cards for you.  They are all done with the same products but in different ways.

The first card was done by running the white mat through the embossing folder and then laying the accent pieces over top.

The second card was done by gluing the accent pieces before running it through the Big Shot.  This gives the impression of it being all one piece or an inlaid effect.

The third card has no background texture but instead has texture only on the accent pieces.  (the foil pieces)

When paper is used as ribbon.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!  Today I am talking about ribbon and paper.  Did you know they are interchangeable?

When you run out of ribbon, or simply didn’t purchase any, then go to your Designer Series Paper stash.  Most of our papers are double-sided which allows for a mat and complementary accent piece which coordinate beautifully.  If you want texture then simply run your paper “ribbon” through a selected embossing folder.

A splash of color to bring out the detail.

It’s Technique Tuesday!  Our embossing folders add so much to the card with texture and depth.  Sometimes there is still a little bit more that is needed.  If you don’t have ribbon then use our Designer Series Paper.  Most of the papers are double-sided allowing you to cut a mat and then accent with the opposite side (as shown here).

Stay tuned on Wednesday night’s Live at 7 pm to see how this is done.

Resting by shopping?

It’s Sabbath Sunday and I am having a slow morning (thankfully).  While I don’t especially like shopping I know it needs to get done once in a while.  My daughter, Tara, is the same way.  If the fairy with the magic wand could magically make things appear she would do it.  But instead we will be doing a bit of running to find some new jeans for her.

While it is not too restful for me to shop I am choosing to look at the silver lining.  I get to spend time with her and probably have a yummy lunch too.  I know it won’t take long since it is not our favorite thing, but it is time together.  I don’t see her much with rehearsals, school, and friends.  Now that she is driving it is even less.

I don’t say this for pity, but instead to remind you (and myself) that it’s our perspective on things.  Instead of saying I “have to” I am now saying I “get to”.  It’s amazing how your attitude changes.

Is there something you need to shift your perspective on?
