Sometimes quitting means resting.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! Have you ever been involved with something and know all along you are not the right person? You’ve committed for however long and the more time passes the more you know you are not the right person. What do you do? Do you stick it out, modify the commitment, or quit?

Recently I have been battling this exact question. I tried to modify the situation by talking and meeting more with the hope that things would begin to get better. But instead of better they got worse. Sometimes you just have to know when to call it a day.

So, as I type this, I have just finished sending my resignation letter in for the Music Boosters. It is back to solely Stampin’ Up!, my family, and enjoying life again.

Have you ever had to hit reset on a commitment you made?

Giving back with self care.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. Some days you need to go back to bed or have a mimosa with breakfast. There are days where you need to push through and others where you call off and go get your toenails polished.

As for me, I am taking care of some loose ends and getting back on track with my creative side. There are some great new things I have planned for us to experience together. Just you wait.

So, if your boss asks, I said it’s okay to go get a pedicure. (Just kidding. I’m not your boss.) But do remember to take care of yourself.

How to be the same but different.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today we are creating Christmas cards with the Peacock Foils and the Perfectly Plaid paper with the Pine Tree Punch. They are super easy to create and look how fast they come together.

To watch the video and learn how to create these cards please go to https://youtu.be/V88OOeL5m-M.

Dimensionals are not just for pop-ups.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Did you know dimensionals can be used for more than pop-ups to create texture or depth? Did you know they can also help something to stop?

For example, when creating an easel card I have often used a dimensional to pop up the sentiment on the bottom. This allows enough room or depth for the hinge point to stop or stand up. When creating a pull tab card the dimensionals can create a stop or rail so the card stock doesn’t slide through.

When using your product think of what else it can do.

How to offset the same paper.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to ask you have you ever really liked a certain color or pattern of paper? You want to use it all the time but it often gives your card or project all the same look. Nothing seems to stand out. Well, then offset it.

Take your background and your accent piece that are from the same collection of paper. Then punch a neutral background accent so there is something to set certain parts of the card out.

See how the green makes the patterned paper pop out much more?

Stories to be told.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest and recharge. For many of you rest is needed because homecoming was last night for many of the local kids. There is something that changes when you have to be out until 11 or so instead of at home and comfy.

For me rest will come in the form of stories. I am taking some time to visit my Grama today and listen to her stories. I love hearing about the way things were. The way she hustled to help get my Grampa’s business off the ground, remodel the house, or raise her kids. It’s the same as today but it seems so much sweeter when it’s in the past.

Take a minute and enjoy those precious around you.

24 hour sale coming soon.

It’s Sale Saturday! The clearance rack is full of great deals and discounts. There are entire bundles reduced or simply a spool of twine for sale. All is while supplies last so don’t wait to tell me.

If that’s not enough the Holiday Catalog is about a third of the way through its season. Some of the backordered items are now back in stock such as the metallic inked pads.

And, last but not least, the 24 hour sale is coming soon! I will have more details on Monday about this great deal!

Fire changes perspective.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. It’s amazing to me how everything can be going so badly and then one little thing can change your perspective.

So recently I have had my truck break, my daughter’s truck break, flat tires, and more. You name it, it has happened. I was feeling pretty down until the news came on last week. The entire screen was nothing but a brilliant orange. You could almost feel the heat just from the picture. It was live coverage of the Saddle Ridge fire.

As I watched the screen I thought “oh, those poor people” and what would I grab if I only had 20 minutes to leave my home forever. And then my husband said something that snapped me into a different awareness. “Isn’t that Grama’s neighborhood?” So now I am looking at the details of each house as the chopper does a spotlight in the dark to capture glimpses of the houses being devoured by this hungry, fire dragon. As I catch photos of lattice work, patios, and stucco I am looking as each frame looks more and more like Grama’s home.

So the next day I call Grama. No answer. And the next day…and the next…and the next. Four long days go by and I finally hear that friendly “llllooo”. I can hear the weariness in her voice but she is back home. And I ask how she is. She is tired but grateful she has something still to clean. Three doors down they were not so lucky. The entire back half of the house was devoured by the dragon.

My problems seemed to fade as the reminder that life is sacred and to be cherished comes beating to the front of my brain. So I will remind you to take time for what matters, or should I say “who” matters.

Remember to put in to those that matter to you.

Happy Crafting!

Joni 🙂
