The air is crisp.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! The air is starting to turn crisp in the mornings and evenings here. Fall is in the air. With autumn comes caramel apples and preparation for Halloween.

So for today’s creation I am making some cute spiders and a caramel apple pop cover.

When a punch becomes a holder.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Sometimes you need a third hand. Use a punch upside down to help with it.

When the Snow Globe Shaker Dome is set upside down in the 2 1/2″ circle punch you can put glitter and sequins to fill the shaker without spilling. Then you pull the adhesive backing off and stick to the card base.

Add some metallic.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Sometimes what would have been a boring card can really be spruced up by adding some metallic, shiny, or foil paper. This card looked rather dull until the Noble Peacock Foil Sheet was added.

If you would like to create this card then come to class this week.

Back to the gym.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest or re-charge.

And you’re probably reading the headline and shaking your head at me. Going back to the gym is not rest. You are probably wondering if I have lost my mind. Not quite. Keep reading to understand what I am trying to say.

This week I went back to the gym and started focusing on working harder. I went and didn’t just cruise through but actually worked until I felt I could give no more. So the rest in between workouts this week was very sweet.

But I also found with that rest was responsibility. In order for my muscles to grow and to rid itself of the toxins I needed to eat well and drink water.

What I would like to remind you of is that rest is so sweet after you have worked hard and to rest well.

Supporting our own.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I am so grateful to say that many of you in this crafty family are involved with organizations and people that are committed to making a difference and an impact in our local community.

Last week we talked about birthday cards for Cody’s 18th birthday. So don’t forget to drop off a birthday card or two…or three. 🙂 I will be sending the box on September 23.

But this week we are talking about something a little bit different. One of our very own volunteers with the High Desert Pregnancy Clinic. They are holding their annual fundraiser called “Annual Night for Life” on September 28th at 6:30 pm right here at Hawk’s Landing Golf Course in Yucca Valley. Cost for the ticket is $50 and includes dinner and a guest speaker, Matt Walsh. If you plan to go you will need to get your ticket by September 16 with Brandi at 760-369-8512.

If you volunteer or have something you are involved in and want it to be featured for Friendship Friday please email me at reddoor@stampingwithjoni.com.

Washi tape card.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! It’s time to create a quick washi tape card with a floral pansy.

Take your card base and cut a mat (Feels Like Frost Specialty 6X6 Designer Series Paper used here) to 5″ X 3 3/4″. Then take the same color as your card base (Whisper White used here) and cut an additional mat to 4 1/2″ X 3 1/4″. Stick the washi tape on the white card stock in a pattern of your choice. (Tip: Make sure to leave at least 1/4″ of washi tape to tuck under the back side of the card stock.)

To see how the flower was done and the card was completed please go to the video at https://youtu.be/RmTjYuzCw-c.

Using a bone folder to straighten things out.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Today we are using the bone folder to straighten things out instead of create greater creases. The bone folder can get the kinks out of ribbon or twine easily for you.

Simply hold the ribbon or twine against the edge of the bone folder much like you would a pair of scissors when curling a curling ribbon for a package.

Washi for a quick card.

It’s Technique Tuesday! When all else fails and you need a super quick card use washi tape. Some quick borders and a flower accent and you have a card. To see this being created please join me on Wednesday evening at 7 pm for my Live.
