Sending cards.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. I’ve been asking for places to send cards to help out. Well…Carol found a place. Thank you Carol!

The Fisher House is a place located by military and VA medical centers around the world. They have up to 21 suites or private bedrooms with a common kitchen and dining space. The first Fisher House opened in 1991.

So I have talked to the local one in California, specifically near San Diego. They didn’t have a use for cards. But Carol went to the one in St Louis, Missouri and they want our cards. They especially want cards for kids.

Here is the address:

Fisher House

Attn: Vanniecia Brown

1 Jefferson Barracks

St Louis, MO 63125

I will be sending boxes of cards to them periodically. So if you have cards with envelopes please send them my way or to Fisher House.

Paper Pumpkin and Its Alternative.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today we are making pumpkins and apples out of boxes. The Paper Pumpkin for this month are some cute Halloween-themed mini gable boxes. I know some of you want cards so I came up with an alternative to the box so a card could still be created.

You will need the Harvest Hello Bundle to create the alternative card.

When spiders become daisies.

It’s Wacky Wednesday! This is the day where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Have you ever thought of using a flower to make a spider? (I know this was on the Facebook Live last week but I had to do this as an actual post.) The Daisy Punch or Medium Daisy Punch (depending on how big your spider) creates a very cute spider. Put some googly eyes on it and you are ready.

Pulling apart an image.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Do you remember me saying look at your product not only the correct way, but also upside down and sideways? Well, today is no different. Today I am pulling apart a leaf from the Seasonal Layers Dies. This maple leaf often is too big for me. But a few simple cuts with the Snips and I have a ready made border all set to go.

P.S. Does anyone see a bat in the remaining leaf on the bottom?

Rest is just a pause.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest or re-charge.

Don’t be afraid to rest. It’s not quitting but it is necessary.

In music a rest allows you to turn the page or another instrument to be featured. It is necessary for the music to change and to keep the audience interested.

In life it is necessary to rest so muscles can heal after a workout. That way you can come back stronger and able to do more.

I hope you are getting the picture…don’t be afraid to rest. Now I am off of here to go put my feet up.

One note: My website has been updated and is now up! Please drop the “www” in order for it to come up. Here is the link for your viewing pleasure…http://jonidaniel.stampinup.net.

Giving back by showing up.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. Some days I am talking about sharing your smile or grabbing lunch with a friend. Other times it’s about mailing cards for an 18 year old boy that needs a full mailbox since he has no party or friends. And still at times it is buying the donuts, the pizza, the wrapping paper, and so on.

So for today I am asking you to show up to the many events happening locally. Not only is there Card Class, but there are several other things as well on Saturday.

  • The United Methodist Church in Yucca Valley is holding a craft fair.
  • The United Methodist Church in 29 Palms is holding a parking lot sale.
  • The 29 Palms Elks Lodge is holding their craft fair and car show.
  • The Boys and Girls Club in Yucca Valley is holding a Krispy Kreme donut fundraiser. If you want a dozen please let me know.
  • Farmers Market is happening in Joshua Tree and 29 Palms. (The crepes in 29’s market are so good.)

I am sure there are others, but this is just to get you started. If you don’t show up then there is no reason for the coordinators to keep doing these events. I would encourage you to show up.

The air is crisp.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! The air is starting to turn crisp in the mornings and evenings here. Fall is in the air. With autumn comes caramel apples and preparation for Halloween.

So for today’s creation I am making some cute spiders and a caramel apple pop cover.

When a punch becomes a holder.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Sometimes you need a third hand. Use a punch upside down to help with it.

When the Snow Globe Shaker Dome is set upside down in the 2 1/2″ circle punch you can put glitter and sequins to fill the shaker without spilling. Then you pull the adhesive backing off and stick to the card base.
