It’s Sale Saturday! Do you know that some of your favorite products are discounted right now?
Have a look at the Year-End Closeout and Clearance Rack on my website http://jonidaniel.stampinup.net and click on shop now. Some things are discounted as much as 60%.
I think I will keep this short today since there is not much else to say. Go check it out!
It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day we focus on giving back or paying it forward.
Tis the season for giving. Many of the charitable organizations have their hands out for donations right now. Do you know if they are a legitimate organization? Do you know if the funds are actually going where they say they are going? Here are some tips to check out a charity from the FTC (Federal Trade Commission).
Before giving to a charity google them. Type the name of the charity with complaint, review, rating, scam (or any other keyword similar to these) and see what comes up.
Check out their website. On the site does it state how much goes to administrative costs, designated areas, overhead?
Look up the specific charity on your state’s regulatory site…http://nasconet.org.
Charities are only allowed to call from 8 am until 9 pm.
And remember if you have not donated to them in the past then the phone call must be a real person. No robocalls until you have already donated.
I hope this helps you navigate your giving this holiday season.
It’s Tutorial Thursday! Did you make it to the Christmas party? Do you wish you had the tutorial for the cute bag we made or the yummy peanut brittle? Even if you didn’t make it you will not want to miss out.
So here is the recipe for the peanut brittle recipe.
And here are the directions for the bag.
Take two 12X12 pieces of the same paper.
Score at two inches and at ten inches.
Turn 90 degrees.
Score at three inches and at nine inches.
Do this on both pieces of paper.
Cut the corners out of one of the pieces of paper.
On the other piece of paper make sure to only cut across to the score line.
Tip: Make sure you have the paper the same way so as to not have an abstract bag.
If you want a taller bag then cut on the three inch side. You will need to trim the side flaps down by almost half.
Use Tear and Tape to glue together.
Punch holes for ribbon.
Tip: Choose ribbon that is fairly wide so the knot doesn’t pull through.
Here is a screenshot of the instructions more visually.
Please note that the measurements are different in the pictures.
It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!
Yesterday during Card Class Shawnie helped me to see that the Magnolia Designer Series Paper somewhat lines up with the Leaf Punch.
Remember that even though it doesn’t say that it coordinates it just might. Make sure to look at all the products backwards, sideways, and upside down.
It’s Technique Tuesday! Today’s technique is rather easy but I don’t know if you have thought of it. Take your scraps and create a focal point or accent. To create a shape use washi tape or a die to create a stencil. All you need is a good pair of scissors and a box of glue dots and you are off to the races.
It’s Management Monday! Here’s what’s happening this week.
This week is Card Class! If you haven’t reserved your seat there is still time for Thursday’s session and Saturday’s sessions.
Be watching for your invitation to the Mini Catalog Open House on the 21st!
The Year End Closeout is still happening and I will have more details by this afternoon on the 24 Hour Sale!
If you would like to order online please use host code PYBVBC93 that will be good until 7:30 tonight. If you prefer to order in person please contact me. You can also stop by during Studio Open Times.
There will be no Facebook Live this week as I will be at a concert.
It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting and recharging.
Have you realized how much sweeter rest is when you are at peace with yourself? When I was going through some recent drama it seemed no matter how much I slept it wasn’t enough. If you don’t have inner peace there is no rest.
To achieve inner peace seems to be an unending quest. Once you seem to have it something else comes up. I guess this is what life is about. It is constant change, challenge, and conquering. Without it we would be the same person and not be evolving as well.
How do you get to a good place? Do you run from what is agonizing you? Do you workout every day? Do you eat a certain comfort food? How do you cope?
I tend to do a little of all of this. When it gets really bad I figure out how to leave the situation. For every day stresses I workout and tend to eat extra carbs on those crazy days. And, of course, get in the craft room to play.
It’s Sale Saturday! Have you heard? The Year End Closeout is happening right now! What is the Year End Closeout? It’s the sale that happens when the Holiday Catalog is getting ready to be retired. There are some items that will be carried over, some retired, and some discounted.
It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
Did you help an organization on Giving Tuesday? Did you know there was such a thing? Every Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday there is Giving Tuesday. This doesn’t make me feel any less guilty about what I purchased on sale but it does help ease it a bit.
In 29 Palms alone where I live there are over 200+ non-profit organizations. That may sound like only a little but there are only 27,000 in total for population here. Think about it. Each non-profit has to have a governing board, volunteers, etc. So I would encourage you to find your place to make an impact.
With over 200+ organizations you will not go far before someone asks for help. Do not get over-extended, but find your place that speaks to you and go make a difference. If you don’t where or how to start talk to me. Many of the crafters are involved with organizations already and would love some extra help. You don’t need to do a lot but do something. Making a difference in one life may not make a huge ripple in the world but it will make a huge wave in that one life.
