It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
Lately I have been feeling pretty empty. I don’t know if it’s because it has been so busy or that I have been working out and have been sore quite a bit. Or it’s just a little bit of everything as well as the weather keeps changing. (I am ready for warmer, sun-filled weather.) Regardless, some days you just need to take an afternoon off to recharge.
So yesterday I was invited to start my birthday month off with some of the crafter girls. I knew lunch would be provided and there would probably be some crafting. It sounds like a perfect day for me. A day I am not in charge of helping teach or prepare for. Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
Instead I walk in to a dining room (also known as the crafting area) with lavender rosettes hanging from the chandelier. A gorgeous, sparkly, sequined matching lavender table runner. Flowers and favors and chocolate. What could be better? Just wait…there’s more. Lace-edged plates and bejeweled cups. The lasagna heating up in the oven. A perfect salad with candied nuts topping the perched greens. A glass of red wine and a bowl of mixed nuts including cashews (my favorite mix).
So, have I painted a great picture for you? Do you smell the lasagna? And finish it off with a red velvet cake made from scratch topped with an exploding, spinning candle singing happy birthday.
And then the gifts begin…imported toffees, gift cards, crafty supplies…all encased in handmade boxes or bejeweled gift bags. I have never seen a card this big. (Box is in the photo for sizing.)

Thank you for filling me up. Thank you for remembering and taking time to make me feel invincible again. Your effort was so noticed and so memorable. I have never quite had a birthday like this. Thank you for starting my 45th year with exploding, spinning fire. You have reminded me why we do what we do.
So, on this Friday go make an impact no matter how small or how big.
Happy Crafting!
With inky fingers,
Joni 🙂
