It’s Sale Saturday! Have you heard? The Year End Closeout is happening right now! What is the Year End Closeout? It’s the sale that happens when the Holiday Catalog is getting ready to be retired. There are some items that will be carried over, some retired, and some discounted.
It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
Did you help an organization on Giving Tuesday? Did you know there was such a thing? Every Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday there is Giving Tuesday. This doesn’t make me feel any less guilty about what I purchased on sale but it does help ease it a bit.
In 29 Palms alone where I live there are over 200+ non-profit organizations. That may sound like only a little but there are only 27,000 in total for population here. Think about it. Each non-profit has to have a governing board, volunteers, etc. So I would encourage you to find your place to make an impact.
With over 200+ organizations you will not go far before someone asks for help. Do not get over-extended, but find your place that speaks to you and go make a difference. If you don’t where or how to start talk to me. Many of the crafters are involved with organizations already and would love some extra help. You don’t need to do a lot but do something. Making a difference in one life may not make a huge ripple in the world but it will make a huge wave in that one life.
It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today we are creating a tic tac favor box that can also double as an ornament. So get out your Paper Trimmer and let’s get started.
You will need a piece of card stock cut at 2″ X 9″. You will score at 4 3/16″ and then flip and score again at the same measurement. Punch the ends with a tag topper punch. Decorate and then string a ribbon through to create a cute, but useful, ornament.
It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! This tip comes to you from Barbara Allen. Thank you Barb for sharing this with all of us.
Do you ever snip your finger? Get a really bad paper cut? Pinch yourself with the end of the punch? Instead of walking to the back of the house to get a band-aid stay in your craft room. Grab that tear and tape and wrap it around that finger as a temporary fix. Just don’t peel the other side. When you are done crafting I would recommend getting up to clean your cut and put an actual bandage on it. But for the meantime you can keep crafting.
It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are being scrappy. We are using our scraps to create a woven background. So take some of that paper that is left from the project that is already finished or maybe even some paper that you didn’t care for. Cut the strips as thin as you can get them (not more than 1/8″). Attach them to your card base with Snail Adhesive, but only on one side. This will allow you to weave the paper together.
I chose to not add a bow because then all the weaving would be hidden.
One last tip…if you don’t want your paper to look crooked make sure to cut them at different lengths. After weaving the size changes and some differences appear.
Happy Crafting!
With inky fingers,
Joni 🙂
P.S. The winners for the Small Business Saturday raffle will be announced right here at noon.
It’s Management Monday! Here’s what’s happening this week.
We are finishing up a couple of promotions from Small Business Saturday. For more information on all of the different promotions please see Saturday the 30th’s post.
There is no current host code as everything needs to go through me if you want to take advantage of the promotions.
On Friday the 6th from 7 am – 3 pm I will be up at the Continuing Care Center for their annual craft fair. This is on Whitefeather Road at the top of the hill. Swing by to get your door prize just for stopping in.
This isn’t crafting, but you can attend Tuba Christmas from 6-7 pm on Friday at the River. This is the second year my hubby will be organizing this event. In case you are curious…Tuba Christmas is a bunch of tuba players getting together and playing Christmas carols for an audience. So come and enjoy with me. The only cost is if you eat dinner.
On Saturday the 7th at the Yucca Valley Community Center will be the Holiday Faire! Bring the kids to play in the snow, shop to get someone special checked off your list, and much more!
It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting and recharging.
Since the kids have had a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday it seems that I should focus on the fact that this is the last day of no routine in my house. Tomorrow will be back to school and it will be off to the races once again. I have to say it’s been nice to be slower but it doesn’t last long in this house.
This week will hold two craft fairs, try-outs for winter drumline, Tuba Christmas, and probably a few other things I am missing.
So as I type this in my pajamas I realize that this is the last day for a bit of ease for quite some time. I am grateful to have the down time, but I am looking forward to what the future brings too.
It’s Sale Saturday! And today there are some personal promotions that are happening! If you are able to come to the Christmas party happening today you will want to, even if you didn’t reserve your seat and won’t have a project to do. I will be giving out 10 bonus tickets to all those in attendance. You will want to read on for what is being raffled off.
Not only will you get 10 tickets for attending, but you will also get tickets for playing speed stamping. You will have to be in attendance to play. You will get one ticket per 10 stamps you complete in 60 seconds.
If you are not able to attend but want a chance to play you can!!! Fill in the 12 Days of Christmas without googling or cheating. For every form completely filled out you will get one ticket. For every right answer you will get a ticket. So you have a chance to get 13 tickets.
To be eligible for this contest please do not post your answers anywhere on-line. You need to message, email or text me the completed form. Yes, it needs to be on the form.
I also have some personal promotions through Monday, December 2 at 7:30 pm. There is no host code since all of these promotions are through me and need to be placed as a group order. Please contact me to place your order.
And for every order you submit before Monday night you will get a ticket. For every order over $50 you will get a bonus ticket. So if you placed an order at $125 in product (before tax and shipping) you would get 3 tickets. One for placing the order and two for the additional $100.
So you probably want to know what is being raffled off. I am raffling off three prizes. The first pick will get first choice, second will get second choice, and so on.

I need this reminder as much as maybe one of you does. Be kind to those closest to you.
I know, for me, my family sees me at my absolute best and often worst. I need this reminder. Be kind. Take a second to think before speaking. Share that smile. Ask what they want for dinner. Go that extra mile for those closest to you.
