Rest by hiding.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting and recharging for the week ahead.

Do you know that sometimes the best way to truly rest is to hide? Yes, hide!

With all of the political unrest, schools being held virtually, and half of the businesses still closed sometimes the best way to find peace is to stick your head in the sand. In order to survive this time of turmoil you might need to breathe and hide in your blanket fort for a bit.

My fort is big enough to make cards and have sparkly pretty things. If you need me I will be in my craft room finding peace.

How do you find rest? What do you shut out? Where do you go to bring everything back into perspective?

Happy Crafting!

How to be present.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Recently my girlfriend lost her husband to cancer. They had been married over 20 years, he was a retired Marine, and had led a very similar path to my husband and I. He was 53 and had retired just two years after my husband. But shortly after he retired they found a tumor. He conquered it once but not the second time.

So why am I talking about this? Well, because it makes me wonder what I can do to help her. And, honestly, not a lot. It’s part of life, unfortunately.

Instead I started to search online for how to be present, how to be a friend, or what to say when someone is grieving. There were some interesting things listed but here is what I found.

The number one thing that was written about was to listen. Be present. Don’t interrupt. Just listen.

And the other thing was to ask how you could help. Instead of jumping in and doing, ask first.

I hope these help you. For me they are a great reminder that the best of intentions may not always be received well, so make sure to ask and then listen.

Decorating ribbon.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Today we are grabbing our ink pads and markers with a blank canvas of woven trim from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack.

We are grabbing the middle one in the picture above and stamping on it, coloring it, and more. In the photo below is the ribbon decorated.

The only technique I did not demonstrate is when you dip the ribbon in a container filled with water and ink to dye it.

From left to right…

  • a Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker was used on the brush tip to create stripes
  • a Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker was used on the thin tip to create polka dots
  • a Cajun Craze Ink Pad was pressed on to the ribbon to change the color completely
  • a Cajun Craze Ink Pad and the acorn from the Beautiful Autumn Cling Stamp set was used to stamp

Just because something comes as a white ribbon doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.

First Day of Fall

It’s Technique Tuesday! I thought what better way to celebrate the first day of Fall or Autumn than with my favorite for the season…candy corn. Some of you might think falling leaves but just look at this cute card.

The technique I want you to take away from this is how to make those delicious candies. I used the Stitched Triangles Dies and was able to enjoy these fall treats without gaining one pound.

So remember not only to look at what you have upside down and backwards, but also look at what it can become if pulled apart.

Just a simple list.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting and recharging.

I found this quote or list that spoke to me.

I am not saying to never push through and get things done. What I am saying is to know when to push and when to listen to that still small voice and truly rest.

World Card Making Day

It’s Sale Saturday! Here are the deals for right now.

The Clearance Rack has some items still on it if you would like to take a look at https://jonidaniel.stampinup.net/. Just click on shop and sales&specials.

Get ready for this week as I get the details for the Designer Series Paper Sale. I know that it will not be all the papers, but select ones. And that they will be 15% off. It’s actually more than the 15% off as this is calculated before tax and shipping. It figures out to be just under 20%. So give me a couple of days and I will let you know what’s going on.

Personally, I am in the process of creating an event for World Card Making Day. There will be contests, prizes, giveaways, a card making kit, promotions, and more. Be looking for more details later this week.

Happy Crafting!

With inky fingers,

Joni 🙂

P.S. What is something on your list that you hope goes on sale soon?
