Rest Comes from Within

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest so you can be recharged for the week.

I want to tell you a story, a short one, but a story. A little over 5 years ago I was working in a financial office that Joel (hubby) and I owned jointly. We both were pretty stressed out and no matter how much sleep and rest we got we never felt recharged. The tank was empty. By continuing with what we did there was no filling it.

So we decided to let it go. It didn’t make sense due to debt and training and investment and … but for our sakes we let it go. Joel became a full-time musician (bagpiper) and I became a full-time crafter. Now we have had our struggles, but the doubt and stress has nearly vanished. It’s amazing how when you are in the right place at the right time doing what you love life has a different sound to it.

I would encourage you to follow your heart as well. Life is good when you are in the right place.

Happy Crafting!

Spreading Happiness

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Recently I was looking around the internet and came across an article, 30 Ways to Give Back to Your Community. Many of the points were things I had come across before, but some were new. I’d like to share a few highlights with you.

  • The easiest way to be happy is to hear about happy things. Did you know there is a weekly newsletter for just that? Go to https://www.goodgoodgood.co/goodnewsletter to sign up for some good news.
  • Support your local farmers by purchasing produce at the Farmers’ Market in your town.
  • Donate your work wear so someone in need can get to that interview.
  • Have a skill? Share it with someone else by becoming a mentor.
  • Tutor a student. Many students are struggling more with being behind due to the pandemic.
  • Write a letter to a soldier through https://www.operationgratitude.com/. Let me know when you have a few as I send a box in periodically.
  • Donate toiletries to a shelter. Our local one is Unity Home.

Making a Card from a Box

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Today I want to show you in a very quick video how I used the parts from a box to create a card. These parts were from this month’s Paper Pumpkin.

Here is the link to the video, https://youtu.be/sIPMqRy4poc.

Use a Kit!

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today is more of a tip than an actual technique.

Do you know how life gets hectic and then, instead of making a handmade card, you don’t send anything? Am I the only one? Please comment and let me know I am not alone in this.

So how do you solve this? For me I have started using the kits that Stampin’ Up! offers. Sometimes they are Paper Pumpkin and sometimes they are the kits from the Kit Collection. What’s the difference? Paper Pumpkin is a monthly subscription or pre-paid code with each month being a surprise. You do get a hint but not much else. The Kits from the Kit Collection are available all the time to order and the samples can be seen before purchasing.

This month’s Paper Pumpkin I have used for cards even though they are supposed to be boxes.

Here is the project done according to the instructions. There are several other colors, variations, and sentiments.

And here is the alternate card I created with the belly band and accents.

If you would like to have this kit on hand please let me know. I have two of these Paper Pumpkin kits that will be available on my shop (https://stampingwithjoni.wordpress.com/shop/) after January 10.

Doing Something You’ve Never Done Before

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Sometimes you have those moments where you know you’ve raised your kid right. I had this just this week. She listens and thinks. She knows that hubby and I are not in need of much of anything. But she also knows that we don’t do a bunch since we always seem to be working or travelling for our jobs. And since we both work on the weekends much is closed or done for the season once we have a moment to enjoy.

So as part of our Christmas present she found a restaurant that serves just about everything and then took us to Wild Lights. It was so nice to be entertained and to not have to figure out the details.

Here’s to making memories and enjoying every stage of life.

What are you trying new this season? Post in the comments below. It just might encourage someone to try something new.

Happy Crafting!

With inky fingers,

Joni 🙂
