Who checks on you?

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. Do you have a friend that checks on you? Do you have someone that says please call me when you get home so I know you are safe?

It’s a good feeling to know that someone cares about you. It’s an even better feeling when they check on you to make sure you are okay. Who is in your life to make sure you are tucked in at night? Go tell them thank you, call them, or send them a card. Show your appreciation for them to just be “on call”.

Sometimes easy is what gets it done.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Sometimes easy is the only thing that will get it done when you are in a time crunch. If you need a quick favor for Halloween for your co-workers or for your kid’s class then think about the coffin boxes. With some tear and tape and ribbon you are off to the races. (You will probably need some candy too.)

Just remember to give enough time for them to get here. If you are thinking of doing these don’t wait and contact me to order now.

Tape is for more than sticking something together.

It’s Wacky Wednesday! This is the day where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Have you ever gotten glitter into your ink pad? I have. I have scraped, begged, and pleaded to no avail. But I didn’t know this tip at the time.

Take packing or mailing tape and roll it up like you would if you were getting lint off your clothes. Then grab the glitter off the pad much like you would the lint. Here are a couple of tips. Make sure it is the clear mailing tape. Masking or duct tape leave adhesive on the pad. You might want to also have an ink refill handy after you get done cleaning your pad.

When veins are a good thing.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are talking about veins and the fact that you want to see them. Yes, since it is fall it is all about leaves.

Some of our dies cut and also emboss at the same time. The sample used here is from Nature’s Root. First cut the outline or frame of the leaf out. Then grab the inner embossing details for the same shape. Lay this die with the raised edges down to ink first (Mossy Meadow used here). Then place on card stock being careful to not smudge the ink. Run through Die Cutting Machine.

Rest areas.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! Today is the day we rest or re-charge.

Have you ever noticed rest areas on the side of the highway? What do they have? There is usually not a ton of extras. There is no arcade, video games, disco, rides, etc. Instead there are the essentials. There is a restroom, maybe a vending machine, a map, some shade trees, and a bit of grass. Basically the essentials.

A good rest stop will allow you to stop, take a break, put your feet up under the shade tree, and put your toes in the grass. This allows you to reconnect and take care of the necessities.

I would encourage you to make your day of rest an essential part of your week. Make sure you have the necessities and not much more. Keep it simple so you can hit reset.

Napkin for a sponge.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

I recently held a class and had travelled to the host’s home. Normally the joke is when I travel, “what have I forgotten today”? I usually forget one item when I am not home. Well, it turned out to be the sponge brayer for the background.

So instead of freaking out I improvised. I grabbed a napkin from the buffet, gave a couple of twists, and started to “paint” with it. What should have wiped my face was instead creating a gorgeous background. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Just remember to use a clean napkin to paint.
