A short trip to Hawaii.

It’s Tutorial Thursday and we are going to Hawaii! With the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set and the In the Tropics Dies we can enjoy a short trip to Hawaii. So close your eyes and imagine the soft sand between your toes and the salt water splashing just below your knees.

For today’s cards you will need a bunch of embossing folders, card base, mat, scrap card stock, adhesive, sponge dauber, ink, stamp set, and clear blocks. Start by cutting everything to size with your paper trimmer. The scraps were cut to 1 1/4″ X 3 3/4″ to start. Then they were run through the die cutting machine with the embossing folders. The edge was torn and sponged with the dauber. Please note that the 3D embossing folders break down the fibers in the card stock further. So the card stock done with the 3D folders is easier to tear. Adhere all with Stampin’ Seal. For the sentiment I used the Adhesive Sheets as well as mailing or packaging tape to faux emboss.

For a full tutorial please go to https://youtu.be/8oe8TU9Mg_c and https://youtu.be/3131qxM_8EM. My apologies for the two videos. There were some technical difficulties last night. Please enjoy.

Fake embossing with real trees.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Today we are using tape to emboss. Tape!

Have you ever wanted to have the look of embossing and didn’t have your heat tool or the right color of embossing powder? Then use tape. Stamp the image as normal and then cover with tape. After covering with tape then die cut and place on your card.

To get full instruction on this please join me tonight at 7 pm tonight.

Embossing folders to the rescue.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are talking about embossing folders. All of them! All at once!

Pick a few of your favorites and use them on your scratch card stock. Make a tiered background from all the different textures.

This sample has a background of Night of Navy card stock and the layers are of Seaside Spray. The edges are then sponged with a dauber in Seaside Spray as well.

Join me tomorrow night at 7 pm on the Facebook Live to see the finished card.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest and recharge.

I am sitting here and am reminded by my aching legs how good it is to sit still after many days of standing and beginning to run again.

Supporting from within.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I know many of you are feeling the pinch. I know many of you are stressed, mentally exhausted, and ready for the rules to not continue to change from day to day. Me too!

But, for now, we are going to encourage and support each other. For some that means a smile, others some happy mail, and maybe baking your favorite treat for a special someone.

For today I want to do a little something different. I want to recognize you. Yes, you. Many of you volunteer to help with local churches, food banks, and even have a side hustle.

So, please comment if your organization needs volunteers. Speak up if you need help with social media. Say something if you crochet, paint, whatever it is.

Please do not leave your personal information in the comments (like a phone number). Instead please send me an email at reddoor@stampingwithjoni.com and tell me some more details, what needs there are, what is being sold, and how best to contact you. This will give me permission to connect people privately so no personal information is hanging out in cyberspace.

Bows, knots, pleats, and more.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today is the day we learn all about ribbon.

Did you know that there are two different ways to do the same knot? You can also tie a bow at least three different ways. Then there are pleats, flops, and more.

Ribbon as a background.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Did you know that you could use ribbon as a background? Instead of using paper or stamps use ribbon.

Join me tonight as we talk about ribbons being backgrounds and all the different ways to tie or place a ribbon.

Bows, knots, and pleats.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are going to learn about all the things you can do with ribbon. Well, maybe not all. Let’s say some.

First you have all the different knots. You have knots for hunters, sailors, and more. The knots for crafters usually are a traditional one or a square knot. If you can’t get the knot to face the right direction then maybe you should tie a separate piece around it so you have more control.

Then you have bows and all the different types. And don’t forget if you want a double or triple loop. Don’t even start with all the floral bows.

And my point is that while we remember to tie our ribbon in a knot or a bow we don’t often remember to pleat it. So grab your glue dots and pleat instead.

If you would like to see more about this please join me tomorrow night for the Facebook Live at 7 pm.
