It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
I recently came across a story that was so true. I sent it to my daughter and we had a lengthy conversation about it. Here’s how the story goes.
A daughter and mom are in the kitchen. Mom is cooking dinner and the daughter is trying to ask a zillion questions. She wants to show Mom what she did that day. Mom keeps saying she needs to finish dinner. The daughter keeps attempting to captivate Mom’s attention. All the while Mom keeps getting more and more frustrated. Until Mom says enough. I can’t do everything. And blows up on the daughter.
The end of the story finishes with the caption “for you it was a Tuesday, for me it was when our relationship changed forever”.
Now that you know the story I will tell you mine.
It was a Friday. I packed up for Career Day at Yucca Valley High School. It was like any other day. I trucked my bin across the street avoiding the cracks and curbs. I set up my table and got ready to meet 300+ students for the first time. I was having them create cards so I was a bit nervous on how I would be perceived. The rotations of classes began as the sea of faces washed over me. Ink in hand I asked if someone would want to be me for the day. I created 75 cards that day. I wondered if I had made any impact or if I was looked at as an oddity.
I had one student in particular that approached me much like my own daughter used to. She was shy and unsure of herself. But after a few moments we seemed to connect and she even began to create. I thanked her for creating with me. And something was different. Her eyes seemed to be more alive. Then about 15 minutes later she was back, but this time with a different group of friends. She repeated this rotation at least one more time.
I didn’t think much of it until Saturday at the Market. Here was this familiar face again. Except this time she had brought her brother, sister, and Mom to meet me. “Mom, this is the lady. She’s the one that actually said hi. She’s the one that was different somehow.” Mom proceeded to thank me for connecting with her daughter. It was such a meaningful moment for me.
But when I was packing up for that Career Day it was just a Friday for me. I didn’t know that it would be life-changing for someone else.
It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I want to show you how to create a tri-fold angled card.
Here’s the photo.
And here are the measurements for these.
Tri-Fold Angled Card
Cut Gray Granite Card Stock with the Paper Trimmer to 10 7/8” X 5 ½”. On the 10 7/8” side score at 3 5/8” and 7 ¼”. Cut 1 ¾” up to the top of the second score line. This is your card base.
The mat for the largest section without a diagonal measures 3 3/8” X 5 ¼”.
The mat for the middle section measures 3 3/8” X 5 ¼”. Cut 3 3/8” up to create the right shaped mat.
The mat for the little section measures 3 3/8” X 3 3/8”. Cut 1 ½” up to create the right shaped mat.
Decorate as desired.
For how to put it together please reference the video. (The link is below.)
It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!
The Wink of Stella brush can also highlight an accent piece as well as spread glitter. In this case an accent sentiment can be highlighted so it can be seen better.
It’s Management Monday! Here’s what’s happening this week and maybe a bit beyond.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest so you can be recharged for the week.
Since I have been regularly exercising I have realized a change. I have more energy during the day but once it’s gone I am really craving going to bed. In the past, before I moved as much, I would crave sweets or chips instead of rest. It’s amazing to me how your body changes after mixing up just a few routines.
I am also reminded of this in simple instructions for electronics. Make sure to not constantly charge. Please ensure that the unit is below 50% before plugging in. And many other similar recommendations.
I guess the same can be said for us too. Make sure to run down your battery before resting. The rest is so much sweeter, deeper, and more beneficial when my battery has been run down.
It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
So I had a challenge to send cards for Operation Gratitude. A few of you participated and 44 cards with envelopes were sent to Operation Gratitude. Thank you for giving back.
I will be doing another mail drop at the end of July for Operation Gratitude. So start gathering your cards again. Thank you for sending in your cards!
