Day 3 of 12 Days of Christmas

It’s Day 3 of the 12 Days of Christmas Holiday Catalog Kick-Off!  (say that 3 times fast)

Well, today is the first day of school so I thought we could finish off summer today.  This almost sounds like what your teacher would ask you to write about in English class.  Comment below on what you did this summer and what you are looking forward to accomplishing before the end of the year.  For each person that posts (1 post per person, please) you will get 5 tickets for a chance to win that grand prize posted on day 1.

What’s going on.

It’s Management Monday and there’s a bunch that I am preparing for this week.  Shall we get started…

I’ve already done inventory for all the craft fair items.  (If you are hoping for something to be created please say so.)  This was in preparation of transferring credit card systems that has a lower fee and an inventory system that is in real-time.

I have added to the rewards basket and have added points for more than just supplies.

I am finishing up Serina’s calligraphy class which will have a birthday bonus.

I am packing for the Career Fair on the base tomorrow.  If you are looking for a job contact me for more details on this fair.

Add Card Class, Christmas classes, swaps for OnStage, and on it goes.  I love that this job of mine is as flexible or involved as I need it to be.  If you’ve been around a while you will know that I’ve done everything from a class per quarter to 20 in a month.  I am so grateful that this is such a malleable passion of mine.

Office hours and open times.

Just a quick reminder as I get back into routine with school starting.  I will be holding close to the office hours and open times to get things back working.  You can contact me at any time but please know that I will reply during these set times.  The open time is to use the studio and to make a creative mess.  If you need to pick up an order or set a time to meet with me other than Monday please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will reply during office hours.  Thank you so much for continuing with me and encouraging me to grow, expand, and refine my creative endeavors for our betterment.

Contest clarification needed.

I’ve had a couple of people ask me about the contests so let me clarify.

I will be re-naming the contests for the 12 Days of Christmas simply Day 1-12.  There will be contests for tickets, special promotions, bonuses, and challenges to create.

I hope I didn’t frustrate anyone by me misspeaking.

So look tomorrow at noon for Day 3 of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Rest is not procrastinating.

It’s Sabbath Sunday and today is my day of rest!  I don’t know when you block out to do something different and restful, but today is my day.  Lately I’ve been reading article after article about how stress affects the nervous system, weight gain, unclear thinking, and on and on.  So, the moral of the story is to manage or minimize your stress.  But how do you do that?

For me there are lots of ways to manage it.  I work out at least 3 times a week (the goal is 5).  Exercise or movement seems to be the most often talked about way of managing stress.  I think movement is important but I also think the act of taking a break or unplugging in itself helps too.

I think every person needs to find their source of stress too.  Mine lies in procrastination.  When I do not feel ready or that I’ve waited too long everything just goes spinning.  I usually come back around and still get it done, but at what cost?  Usually there is take out involved which means more trips to the gym to maintain.

So for today I will not define rest in simply doing nothing.  Instead today will be for getting ahead so there can be peace and contentment where frazzled nerves once burrowed.

How do you stay content?

Taking action to give back.

It’s Friendship Friday!  This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.  Instead of giving you another idea I want to ask you a question.  How many times have you acted on this?  How many times have you given back?  How many times have you been intentional on forcing yourself to be nice?

I would like to encourage you to listen to that still small voice.  Don’t wait!  This is how we got to where we are today.  Don’t hesitate.  The time is now.

Just recently a dear friend of mine posted a link to a Ted Talk with Mel Robbins.  Do you know about Ted Talks?  Have you heard of Mel Robbins?  If you haven’t google them or ask me later.

So now that things are growing with Stampin’ Up! I have been crippled with fear at times.  I know what to do but I procrastinate.  And as many of you know, I believe that knowing what to do and acting are two totally different things.  I hear that little doubting voice that says…”it’s getting too big”, “how will you ever make 53 thank you cards this week”, “why did you think you were capable of all this”, and on it goes.  I don’t know about you but sometimes I need ear plugs.  I need to stop listening and just go for it.  I can only name a handful of times where I said yes and then couldn’t figure it out.

So what are you hesistating on?  Stop it!  Let’s go make a difference.  Here’s to having 5 seconds of courage.

And here’s the link to that presentation I was talking about.  Mel Robbins (paste this if it doesn’t work…https://www.ted.com/talks/mel_robbins_how_to_stop_screwing_yourself_over?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=tedspread).

Now go for it!

Seeing the forest for the trees.

It’s Tutorial Thursday!  Have you heard the saying that you can’t see the forest for the trees?  Well, today we are creating the trees so you are good.  I don’t know if you could see it, but there is a bit of Wink of Stella Clear added to the trees to mimic snow.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Here’s a link to the video to see how to make it.  Deer in the forest video
