Farmers’ Market and Open House

It’s Management Monday!  There’s still plenty going on through Saturday and then I will slow down until New Year’s.

On Saturday I will be at the Farmers’ Market in 29 Palms.  Come get your last minute stocking stuffers and vouchers for the new year.  I will also have the new catalogs available.

Come on out on Saturday, December 22 from 4-7 to pick up your new Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure!  There will be snacks, a FREE project, and of course the new catalogs.  Please remember no kids, no hubbies, and no mess to clean up.  RSVP by Thursday, December 20 so I have a project prepared for you.  See you Saturday!

If you would like to order please use host code DWKV37QG by tonight at 9 pm.  This will help me to re-stock the rewards basket.  If you prefer to order in person please contact me.

Sabbath Sunday

It’s Sabbath Sunday!  Today is my day to plan and go at a slightly slower pace.  Sometimes planning means cleaning out.  I was going through the freezer this morning and found some spaghetti sauce that needs to be used.  It looks like today is the day to cook some rigatoni with sauce, roasted garlic, and parmesan for supper.  I would encourage you to clean out, prepare, and plan every so often also.  This, at least for me, allows for a little bit of calm in a pretty chaotic household.

You’ve got a friend.

It’s Friendship Friday!  This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.  I’ve talked about going to get lunch, volunteering, sharing a smile, and much, much more.  I want to remind you that sometimes being a friend is as simple as taking a minute and lending an ear.

I have had a trying week (it’s better now) and needed a few friends to lean on.  I am not saying this for pity, but simply to remind myself (and anyone else that needs to hear this) that sometimes a simple phone call can make all the difference in the world.  Make some effort to be a friend.  If someone is on your mind text them, call, or even mail a card.  There is a reason they are on your mind.  Listen to that small voice and reach out.

Let the dies do the talking.

It’s Tutorial Thursday!  Today I am letting the dies do the talking.  Sometimes there is a die that needs to stand on its own.  Here is the card and instructions will follow.

  1.  Cut thick whisper white card stock at 5 1/2″ on 11″ side.  Score at 4 1/4″ on 8 1/2″ side.
  2. Cut rich razzleberry at 5 1/4″ X 4″ for mat.  Glue with snail adhesive.
  3. Cut whisper white card stock at 5″ X 3 1/2″.  Place detailed lace edgelit dies on either side of whisper white.  Run through big shot twice to create lace edges.  Glue with snail adhesive to razzleberry mat.
  4. Cut 4 3/4″ X 1 1/4″ (width may vary depending on where you placed the dies) with petal promenade designer series paper.  Glue with snail adhesive to lace white mat.
  5. Place frosted epoxy droplets on corners.
  6. Take scrap piece of razzleberry and multipurpose adhesive sheet and run through big shot with thank you thinlits.  Peel off sticker sheet and glue in place.

An easy way to lick ’em and stick ’em.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!  If you are finishing up your Christmas cards then you are probably trying to figure out how to not lick all those envelopes.  Protect your tongue from paper cuts.  And I bet you’ve tried a sponge to wet that glue strip and half the time it sticks instead of gliding across.  So here’s another product to try.  Take your aqua painter and wet the edge with the brush.  Just remember to rinse the brush after so the glue residue doesn’t dry.

Using an aqua painter to wet the glue on an envelope flap.

How to emboss on vellum.

It’s Technique Tuesday!  It is not impossible to emboss on vellum, but you do have to be careful.  You might be tempted to use the low setting on your heat tool and instead you need to use the high.  The low will not melt the crystals properly.  Instead use the high setting and keep moving the heat tool in order to not burn the paper.  If it starts to curl then you need to move the heat.

Taking a breath.

It’s Sabbath Sunday!  I am taking a breath and getting some things caught up today.  My house looks like I have done six events this week.  So I will take out the trash, do some dusting, and probably even vacuum some.  Then I will get to create and get some long-awaited thank you notes out.  It doesn’t sound different than any other day, but it is for me.  The phone won’t ring and I can turn the music up and just focus.  Don’t get me wrong, I love people, but I don’t get much done since I am concentrating on conversations and whatever else might come.

And the rest of my home sounds different today too.  All three cars are in the driveway (until my daughter goes to work in a bit) and my husband is composing some new arrangement of some musical rendition.    I love the constant music.  Since I am not musical I love it.  It’s a good thing I married a musician.

Have you ever stopped to listen to your home?  Do you like the sounds created in it?  How do they differ from the rest of the week?
