Make a stencil with card stock.

It’s Technique Tuesday! I am going to encourage you to create a stencil today. No, they are not in the catalog any longer. They haven’t been for a few years except for the ones with the embossing paste. But they are easy to make.

Take a piece of card stock and punch (or die cut) a pattern out. To keep it in place while using it attach with washi tape. (Tip: so the washi doesn’t tear your card stock place on your clothing once or twice before attaching.)

To get a 3D effect stamp with craft white ink first. Use the heat gun to dry the ink. Take your stencil and place just offset of the white. Now use a different color to stencil. (A bright or dark color stands out the most from the white.)

P.S. If you want to see this technique in motion please join me for the Facebook Live on Wednesday evening at 7 pm.

Resting by driving.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! I know most of you are confused by the headline. I am too. I know driving is not resting, but it’s important. So, as long as the weather holds out, I will be driving for the grand opening of a good friend’s first salon and boutique. Sometimes it’s not practical, but if it is that important you do it. So, I am most likely on the road today.

What are you doing to break up your routine? Are you doing anything special on this holiday weekend?

Second Release of Sale-A-Bration!

It’s Sale Saturday! Sale-A-Bration is about halfway done or there is half more to go (depending on your perspective). Just yesterday was the second release for Sale-A-Bration. What does this mean? It means you have more free products to choose from. 🙂

Here’s the link to see what’s available…https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/category/10100/sale-a-bration.

If that’s not enough, be watching in the next couple of weeks as I will have more information on some brand new coordinating products that will be available for sale on March 1.

Give back to those closest to you.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day we focus on giving back or paying it forward. I want to do a gentle reminder to love on those closest to us. Sometimes we look outward to help and come home to be grumbly, tired, and worn out. Every once in a while make sure you are appreciating those that are closest to you. Here’s my story for that.

Yesterday started out like any other day. I was a little hurried in what I was doing so I was being a bit short with those around me. I got done, packed, and ready with a couple minutes to spare. I apologized to hubby (Joel) for being short and wished I didn’t have a reason to apologize. Just another example of imperfection. I strive for better but sometimes things happen. I went through my day in the rain so I wasn’t myself. (I live in Southern California in the desert so rain is not part of every day life.)

When I get home he decides to cook dinner. We had tomato soup and grilled cheese which was a perfect warm ending to a long day. And the touch that made it just perfect…bacon roses. He had not forgotten Valentine’s Day. He had just made it his own.

I don’t say this for bragging rights, but instead it was a wake-up call for me. Be good to those you live with, love, and call your own.

A new YouTube channel.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! I figured since it was Valentine’s Day instead of giving you another project to do I would introduce you to a new YouTube channel. Now I have my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTZYaEvaoc_I5-cQKvZuN5Q but there are many others.

So I figured I would introduce you to the Stampin’ Up! channel. This particular project is really cute and since it is Valentine’s Day I figured you could use a project with some gift wrapping. Give it a look…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-9ym4muIhk.

Heat tool for a motorcycle.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Did you know that you could use the heat tool to help nuts and bolts release? Blast the stuck part with the heat tool for about two minutes (don’t touch) and then unscrew. The heat will allow the bolt to be broken free much easier.

Zig zags.

It’s Technique Tuesday! When creating a zig zag card make sure your scores are going the opposite direction. So when you score the second line flip the card stock over first. That way you can bend the card stock opposite without cracking. By folding it opposite this will create the zig zag.

Resting by getting ahead.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! I am resting today by getting ahead. I have a few messes to clean up since I haven’t been home much. Between classes, life, and looking for a new truck it’s been a little hectic this week. I do find that if I procrastinate then I get a bit anxious and don’t rest well. The only solution I have found for this is to do the work. Sometimes I re-prioritize and sometimes I just knuckle down and get it done.

Today is one of those days for me where I will need to get it done. For today grocery shopping, re-organizing my budget, cleaning the studio, laundry, cleaning, and creating a bunch is on my list. Thankfully it is a short week for school with the Presidents’ Day holiday coming up. So what’s on your list for today?
