Peace in your mind.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting or re-charging. Something clicked in me this week (again) as I was talking to a few of my friends. As I was listening they were talking about how exhausted they were both physically and mentally. I know how the mental games can wear on you.

Back in November and December I had finally said enough to some family drama. At first I was exhausted and my head was quite foggy. But after finally being at peace I began to rejuvenate. Life became better and the fog lifted.

So I will remind you that to be rested is just not a physical thing, but also a mental one. Let go of what is bothering you so you can re-charge from the inside out. Sometimes this seems to be easier said than done, but is a necessity.

Happy Crafting and rest well!

Mentoring the next generation.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. Today is the day that I say thank you. Thank you for your support and trusting me to lead this crafty group. Thank you for giving not only to me, but also to the community.

I bet you’re wondering what I am talking about. This morning the Rubber Rummage Sale was wrapped up. I collected, sold, and now donated. Thank you to those that brought product to sell and eventually donate. This year’s recipient was the PLUS program at the school district.

The PLUS program helps those students that have learning disabilities and also those that have gone through something traumatic or life-altering. This program allows them to learn in a non-traditional manner. Instead of a classroom setting all day they alternate between classwork and visual therapies. One day they might teach how to paint or another might be sewing. So now they can papercraft as well.

Who knows who next year’s recipient may be. Please keep your ears and eyes open throughout the year. I will ask for suggestions when the 5th Annual Rubber Rummage Sale is announced in February 2020. It will be here before we know it. So, for now, go make an impact no matter how small or big!

Rubber band background.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Here’s how to create this card.

Grab a card base and a wood textured piece of paper. The wood textured paper is cut to 5″ X 3 3/4″. The white inner mat is cut to 4 1/2″ X 3 1/4″.

I took a clear block and wrapped it with rubber bands. I then inked it with Tranquil Tide and stamped a random background. I attached both mats with Snail Adhesive. The daisy and butterfly are attached with Dimensionals.

Rubber bands for stamping.

It’s Wacky Wednesday! This is the day we use a product in a way it is not intended! Today we are talking about rubber bands. Yes, rubber bands. Grab a clear block and wrap it with rubber bands. The more the merrier. Ink the bands and then stamp on to card stock.

You never know what you can stamp with until you try.

Embossing with vellum.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are embossing with vellum. Vellum is a very delicate specialty paper that cracks easily. Usually it can be put through the Big Shot in an Embossing Folder. Some of the 3D Embossing Folders are a little deep and may cause cracking. If this is the case add a piece of waxed paper or copy (printer) paper between the folder and the piece of specialty paper.

Resting makes you strong.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! Are you ready to be strong? Sometimes when you feel the most fragile you need to become strong. If you’ve gone through a tragedy or just simply a ton of mental exercise at work, home, whatever remember to take a break. Your perspective will be better and you will come back stronger. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Take care of yourself.

Happy Crafting!

It’s the small things.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. Last week I talked about listening. This week I want to talk about the details.

When you are in a relationship with a spouse, significant other, or friend it is often the little things that will drive you crazy. It’s not the big things that usually break us. It’s that little thing that is done over and over again.

As much as this is about the negative, it can also be about the positive. Remember to pay attention if their hair was cut recently. If there is a new outfit. Or simply if they called you. Say thank you more. Mail the card or note.

The small things add up to make a difference.

Happy Crafting!

With inky fingers,

Joni 🙂
