How many licks?

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Do you remember the Tootsie Roll commercial with the owl and the kid? And the question is asked how many licks does it take to get to the center of the tootsie roll pop. Did anyone ever figure it out? That’s not the point, I promise.

My point is this…if you don’t want to lick an envelope because it tastes bad or you don’t want a paper cut or you don’t want to spread your germs, use your aqua painter. Fill your aqua painter with water and use to moisten the flaps of envelopes.

Drips can be art.

It’s Technique Tuesday! By now many of you are probably thinking my closet is clean, I’ve dusted, and finished my pile on my desk…now what? So I thought I would give you something new and easy that even the kids could do.

So grab a piece of white card stock, shimmery white card stock, or watercolor paper. If you don’t have a big one then grab scraps and create a mosaic background afterwards. Then you will need an aqua painter. If you don’t have one then grab a cup of water and a paintbrush. An eye dropper will work too. You will then need some ink pads. Stamp some ink on a clear block. If you don’t have blocks a piece of waxed paper will work in a pinch. Then grab your aqua painter or paintbrush. Drop a few drops of water on the block with ink. Give it a swirl and begin dripping inked water on to your card stock. Let dry to create your background.

If you would like to create this with me grab your favorite words and a big punch to go along with this. You will also need a card base and maybe a mat if you are cutting up your drip background. You have until tomorrow night to get it together. Join me on the Live at 7 pm on Wednesday to create with me. http://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni

Are we there yet?

It’s Management Monday! Here’s what’s happening this week.

By the Executive Order coming from the Governor of California I am deemed a non-essential business. (Don’t argue. I know. But that is what it says.) So I am not allowed to have you break the stay at home order.

This is what that means.

  • No Open Time on Mondays until this mess finishes.
  • No in person classes.
  • No deliveries or pick-ups in person.

So if you have ordered from me then I will deliver via USPS. For future orders they will be placed online individually so they are shipped directly to you. Shipping is slightly higher ($6.95 or 10%, whichever is greater) but at least you can still get your crafting supplies.

I am currently working on a virtual class that will be coming out on March 30.

The Rubber Rummage Sale will most likely not be held on April 4. Right now the alternate date is April 18.

And, if all this hasn’t driven you a bit crazy, then think about joining the card tree. I am putting together a group of crafters that want to send a card and receive a card for encouragement. This does not have a deadline. Once you join I will give you someone else to send to and tell you who is sending to you.

If you would like to help Iris then please order online at http://jonidaniel.stampinup.net and use host code KVCNCBCQ. This host code will be good until noon on March 31. If you would like FREE shipping (I will reimburse) then please have your product (before tax and shipping) total $50 or more.

Thank you for being part of this crafty family!

Breaking up the routine.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! Normally I would tell you to rest and recharge, but I think we are all over that now. Instead here are some ideas to break up the routine.

  • Stand up and stretch.
  • Exercise.
  • Face time with a friend.
  • Watch church on-line.
  • Make a difference.
  • Learn a joke.
  • Join the card tree to encourage other crafters.
  • Have breakfast for dinner.

What ideas do you have?

Do you need a boost?

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I was wondering since we can’t get together does anyone want to be a part of a card tree? Do you know what that is? You say you are interested and then I start a line of who is mailing to whom. You make a card and send it to whomever is next in line. I think we could all use some happy mail these days.

So if you are interested please comment so I can start constructing the “tree”.

I thought we might all need to stay connected and encourage each other.

Creating a faux shaker card.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today we are creating a faux shaker card.

You are probably asking what this means…a faux shaker card. It means it looks like a shaker card without the pocket sealed. Everything is glued down.

Here is the card that is being created with instructions and video to follow.

  1. Cut Thick Whisper White Card Stock with the Paper Trimmer to 4 1/4″ X 11″. On the 11″ side score at 5 1/2″.
  2. Cut Basic Black Card Stock to 4″ X 5 1/4″.
  3. Take a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and cut out from the Heirloom Dies a rectangle and then emboss.
  4. Cut a piece of Window Sheet to a little bit beyond the opening. Attach to the frame with Mini Glue Dots.
  5. Attach the frame with window sheet to the mat with Adhesive Foam Strips. Tip: You might want to put a dimensional or two on the top if the strips don’t come all the way up.
  6. Take a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and cut to 1 3/4″ X 4″. Punch with a Tag Topper Punch. Use the Trio Punch to round the corners. Take a piece of ribbon or a strip of paper for the top of the tag. Tip: To keep the ribbon cinched tight use a glue dot on the middle of the knot.
  7. Insert into the pocket to create your faux shaker card.

Breaking up paper.

It’s Technique Tuesday! If you have a piece of Designer Series Paper that is not your favorite then here is what you do. Cut it in to small pieces to create candles for a card. Then color with the markers or use the blender pen.
