Living Water Chapel

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Today I want to announce to you who will be the recipient of the remnants from the Rummage Sale on March 20 and 21. The youth group called “Refuge” comprised of junior and senior high school students from Living Water Chapel will get what is not purchased or picked up in March. They are an active group and have recently begun crafting as one of their creative outlets.

So we are helping them to keep costs low and still have creative impact.

St Paddy’s Day Card

It’s Tutorial Thursday! You are in luck…I am creating a St Paddy’s Day card with full instructions and video today. (Did you get the pun? Pretty funny, huh?) So here is the card with instructions and video to follow.

  • Cut Thick Whisper White Card Stock with the Paper Trimmer to 4 1/4″ X 11″. On the 11″ side score at 5 1/2″. This is your card base.
  • Cut Country Club Designer Series Paper to 5 1/4″ X 4″. This is your mat. Adhere to your card base with Snail Adhesive.
  • Cut Call Me Clover Card Stock to 5″ X 3 3/4″. This is your inner mat. Adhere to your mat with Snail Adhesive.
  • Punch out four scalloped hearts from the Heart Punch Pack. You will use the Country Club Designer Series Paper again. Adhere with Snail Adhesive.
  • Die cut four medium hearts and four small hearts from the Be Mine Stitched Dies. You will use the Country Club Designer Series Paper and the Call Me Clover Card Stock. Adhere all with Snail Adhesive. If you want to pop up the smallest heart make sure to have Mini Dimensionals available or cut regular Dimensionals in half.
  • Stamp sentiment from the I Say Hello Stamp Set in Night of Navy Ink on the Call Me Clover Card Stock. Punch out with any label punch or die. The Story Label Punch was used here. Attach to the inner mat with two layers of Dimensionals (4 total). (You need the height.) Tip: Place the Dimensionals on the card instead of the label to work around the hearts.

See the corners.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

When you are stamping and the only clear block left is just a little too small for that last stamp…don’t do it. Don’t use a block that is too small. You won’t be able to see the edges of your stamp so placement may be a bit goofy. Instead find a block that is a bit bigger so you can clearly see the edges of your stamp. If this won’t work then go diagonal. The most important thing is to see those edges.

Cut out for an accent.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Is your card or project lacking that oomph you are looking for? Maybe the answer isn’t to add more…more bling, ribbon, words, stamps…maybe the answer is to add less.

Use your punches or dies to create notches or accents for your projects. By doing this you are forcing the eye to gravitate towards that missing piece. That makes someone look at that accent piece that would have normally been lost on the creation.

This is one of the very few times that I will tell you that being negative (or taking something away) will help you to be positive (get the result you want).

Resting is not setting an alarm.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest and recharge.

As I sit here and type this I am reminded that today is my day of rest. Rest for me means getting some prep done in the kitchen (I like cooking), washing the towels, and knowing that the alarm was not set this morning.

I have worked all week to allow myself one day to not have to wake up to an alarm.

What is your allowance or reward for a job well done all week?

Giving back to a business.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I know when we say give back or pay it forward you think of people. You think of sharing a smile, mailing a card, or even paying for someone’s coffee. But do you ever think about giving back to a business?

There are several ways you can give back to a business. Here are just a few examples.

  • Go in regularly to shop and purchase items.
  • Tell them thank you.
  • Be nice.
  • Share or like their social media.
  • Tell others about them.
  • Write reviews on Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, their website, and more.

I would encourage you to do at least one of these things for a local business that you like and trust. You never know what little thing will keep them going.
