Wink of Stella to the rescue!

Before we begin anything I am sure you want to know who won the jar stamp set called Lots to Celebrate. Drumroll please…Congratulations Holly Zigga! You won! Please take a look as this stamp set also coordinates with a punch, shaker domes, and another stamp set. Congratulations Holly!

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are not talking so much a technique as a product that ramps up and elevates your project.

If you have just stamped your project and you are looking at it and asking “what does it need” then you might need to add glitter. And you’re probably telling yourself but I don’t want the mess of that microfine dust. And if you have tried the paint you will probably attest that it is not always consistent. So I would tell you to try the Wink of Stella. It is consistent once you figure out how to work it and has no dust. It just might be the answer you need.

Happy Crafting!

Train by resting.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest and recharge so you are ready for the week.

Have you ever had a personal trainer? Have you been involved in sports? When I played tennis in high school and college my coach would say to be very intentional with your rest. “You need to work extremely hard to earn your rest.” Also, “be sure to truly rest”.

My point is this…when you rest, rest. When you work, work. There is nothing worse than having a minute off and it not being peaceful. Instead of relaxing you are thinking of everything you didn’t get done or that you should be doing.

Instead, be present. When resting, truly rest. When working, truly work. Train your mind to be at peace by training to be at rest or at work.

It’s World Card Making Day!

It’s Sale Saturday! There are a few promotions happening right now.

First, there is the Designer Series Paper Sale that is happening all month. You get 15% off of selected papers. Contact me for more details or to order.

And second is World Card Making Day!

There are three aspects to World Card Making Day that you will want to pay attention to. But first some details. I decided to not send the kits and save on some postage since everyone has card making supplies. (If you don’t then call me quick.) This allowed me to have two stamp sets instead of just one for a prize with no buy in. These contests are for any crafter that wants to participate including my Team. You do not need to purchase anything to post after you have created. All projects need to be made with Stampin’ Up! products. So here are the three aspects…1. personal promotions for products 2. contest for creating cards 3. contest for mailing cards. Let’s get to the details, shall we?

1. Here are the personal promotions I will be holding from Thursday, October 1 through Saturday, October 3 to celebrate World Card Making Day.
a. If you purchase a pack of Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes for $7 you will get one Mini Paper Pumpkin Box for FREE from me!
b. If you purchase any one pack of Thick Whisper White Card Stock or Thick Very Vanilla Card Stock I will cut and score to create card bases free of charge ($5 value). Please, when ordering, state whether you want the regular cut (5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″) or the long cut (4 1/4″ X 11″, scored at 5 1/2″). You can also have half of the pack the regular cut and the other half the long.
c. If you purchase any stamp set you will get a pack of 18 mats for free from me. Please, when ordering, state whether you want neutrals, print (or patterned paper), or fall colors. Limit one per customer.
2. Create a card and post it on the pinned post that will say “Here is the post you need to have a chance to win the stamp set called Warm Hugs. Please post your card in the comments in order to be entered to win. You will need to post your creation by Saturday at midnight in order to qualify. A winner will be picked and announced on Monday’s blog post at https://atomic-temporary-132530051.wpcomstaging.com/.” (You will need to have access to Facebook in order to play.)
3. Mail a card and post it on the pinned post on Monday only. The pinned post will say “Here is the post you need to have a chance to win the stamp set called Lots to Celebrate. Please post your envelope (make sure to not have the person’s address showing) in the comments in order to be entered to win. You will need to post your card with envelope ready to be mailed on Monday only (midnight to 11:59) to qualify. A winner will be picked and announced on Tuesday’s blog post at https://atomic-temporary-132530051.wpcomstaging.com/.” (You will need to have Facebook to play.)

If you have any questions or would like to order please contact me.

If you prefer to order online please use the link https://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=ENRTAGDH before Monday at 7:30 pm.

Who do you turn to?

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

So, I have to ask you, who do you turn to when the going gets tough? Who is your one that you don’t need to look up the number, you just dial? Who knows you so well that you can be completely yourself and still be accepted?

For me I have just a few. Without naming names I will tell you that they have seen me at my worst and my best. They have seen me cry when I thought my husband was dying and when I have won the award. Some have come and gone but a few are still here. I hope they can say the same for me.

Cards need a holder.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today we are making a holder for all those cards. This is perfect timing for World Card Making Day this Saturday.

So here’s how you create a holder or open-ended box.

Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock (thick is preferred) to 7 1/2″ X 9 1/2″. Then on the 7 1/2 side score at 1 1/2″ on both sides. On the 9 1/2″ side score at 4″ and at 5 1/2″. Cut up both middle scores until you hit the next score line. Then glue together using Stampin’ Seal + or Tear & Tape.

Die cut out the largest of the Celebration Labels Dies from Whisper White Card Stock twice. Then die cut out the second size down from Plaid Tidings Paper. Then punch the trees and moose to decorate.

Into the kitchen for craft supplies?

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it was not intended!

For today we are walking into the kitchen and grabbing that dreaded saran or plastic wrap. You know the stuff. The one that bunches up as soon as it begins to tear off the roll. For today it is going to become your palette.

Grab a piece of wrap that is just larger than your card stock mat. Drop ink on it and smoosh around, spritz, do whatever you need to do to make it look “right”. (You might want to do this step over a silicone mat or paper towel so you don’t get ink everywhere.) Then drop the card stock mat on top of all that lovely ink to transfer your background. This will become your background. After you can add shimmer paint to accent or whatever you feel. Then, after it dries, place a label for words and you are ready to go.

Framing with a sponge.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are using the Sponge Brayer to create a frame.

As I was creating this card I knew what I wanted in the center but I had too much blank space on the outer edges. Instead I thought I should create a lighter mat or frame. So I grabbed my Sponge Brayer.

For this technique you will need the Sponge Brayer, your mat, ink, and a piece of scratch card stock. Place the card stock over what you want to mask or protect. Then take the brayer and ink and roll.

Rest by hiding.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting and recharging for the week ahead.

Do you know that sometimes the best way to truly rest is to hide? Yes, hide!

With all of the political unrest, schools being held virtually, and half of the businesses still closed sometimes the best way to find peace is to stick your head in the sand. In order to survive this time of turmoil you might need to breathe and hide in your blanket fort for a bit.

My fort is big enough to make cards and have sparkly pretty things. If you need me I will be in my craft room finding peace.

How do you find rest? What do you shut out? Where do you go to bring everything back into perspective?

Happy Crafting!

With inky fingers,

Joni 🙂
