Take back your life.

Some days I feel like conquering the world and others I could hide under my blanket.  I know you have days like this too.  Right?  I bet you’re thinking…she’s lost it.  Nope, not at all.  Instead of encouraging you to go out today to give back I want to tell you to stay in.  Read a book, craft, cook…whatever re-charges you.  Sometimes you have to take a minute to re-group, re-charge, whatever you want to call it.

Enjoy your time and be present in the moment!

Inlaid cards with a bonus of kicking butt.

Today’s tutorial is on how to create this inlaid card.

So let’s get to it. 🙂

  1. Start with a card base cut tall instead of our regular.  Instead of cutting at 5 1/2 inches cut instead at 4 1/4″.  Then score at 5 1/2 ” and not 4 1/4″.  Thick white is used here.
  2. Then cut a mat at 5 x 3 3/4″ out of whisper white.  To cut the dragonfly use the dragonfly framelit (outline).  After cutting the outline then place the cutout with the detailed die over it.  Run through the Big Shot.
  3. After cutting the dragonfly from the white mat, then take your words of choice and apply to the stamparatus.  Grapefruit Grove and Basic Black are used here.
  4. To assemble, glue (snail adhesive) the designer series paper 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ to the white mat.  Then glue to the card base.  Now glue the detailed piece to inlay.
  5. Enjoy your card!

Gems are for more than paper.

The rhinestones, pearls, and other gems can be used for more than paper.  They can be placed on glass, wood, vinyl, and more.  One particular friend of mine has a daughter that uses the gems for body art.  A line of rhinestones become eyebrow art or a fake nose piercing.  Don’t be scared to experiment with what you can use embellishments for.

Inlaid detail.

Sometimes the details are what matter.  For this technique you need a framelit (outline die) and a matching detail die.  If you don’t have a matching one you can use a bigger detail one and overlay to get a similar look.

Make sure to cut the framelit out first.  Then lay the cut out down and position the detailed die as desired.  This will result in an inlaid look.

Resting on Mother’s Day.

Hopefully your family is allowing some rest on Mother’s Day.  Or are you getting twenty questions about where things are in the kitchen.  Thankfully my kitchen isn’t that big so there’s not many places to look.  And at 10 am my kid isn’t even up yet.  Oh, the teenage years.  Whatever there is in your family, enjoy it.  Be present.  You will never get this moment back.

Sales, yard sales, and farmers’ market.

It’s Saturday so that can only mean one thing.  It is time to announce the promotions, find the best yard sales, and stop at the farmers’ market.

The retiring list is out and has less than three weeks before it is all gone.  Here is the link to take a look at retiring products.

Some of the retiring products have been discounted.  Below is the list.

If you would like to order online through Monday this helps Sandy to get FREE items.  This is a thanks for her allowing me to overrun her store for the Thursday class.  Please use host code HRWVCR6B when ordering online or contact me before 9 pm on Monday to order in person.

The farmers’ market (which I vend every 4th Saturday) is going today from 8-1.  There are several new vendors so go check it out.  I believe this week there will even be a vendor sharpening knives.

If you find any great yard sales please comment below.

Sometimes giving back is close to home.

When I post about giving back on a Friday it’s usually about an organization or someone far away that needs help.  This time it’s right here.  Right in our own crafty family.  One of the girls this week has been through a very painful sinus surgery.  She is recovering slowly but can use a little encouragement.  If you would like to send a card please contact me.  I will be sending out a package to her late next week.

Also this week one of the girls broke her ankle and it will take quite some time to heal.  She is off her feet and out of her craft room for quite a few weeks.  Please contact me to mail a card as well.

Most days we make a difference outside in the big world.  Now it’s time to make a difference with our very own.  Please stamp an extra card.  If I need to pick up just say so.

Here’s to impacting through encouragement right in our own family.

Mother’s Day Card

Last night was a good, and long, Facebook Live.  I showed many of the new products from the new annual catalog and created a Mother’s Day card.  If you would like to see all of this on video please go to YouTube video of Live.

So for now I will show you the card.

This has the thick white cardstock as the base.  The new 6×6 paper is the mat.  The accents are in whisper white.  They are die cut with a new die and trimmed and punched with the new trio punch.  The stamp is from the new Itty Bitty Greetings and the metallic pearls are also new.

Enjoy and Happy Crafting!

Glue dots as a holder.

Sometimes I have little pieces laying all over my crafting area and I lose them.  If I have enough time to clean I will often find them.  Sometimes I end up buying more and find them all later.  So what if there was a way to stay organized?

The other night I was creating with some little itty bitty googly eyes.  They ended up at the bottom of the pile and I kept having to dig them out.  Instead I used my mini glue dot roll as a holder.  I placed a bunch of the eyeballs on to the glue dots and just did not peel them off.  I waited to peel until I was ready for them.  But now instead of looking for a little eyeball I was looking for the glue dot roll.  This was so much easier to find.

Don’t forget that your tools can be more than what they are used for.  Not only do I have glue here, but I also have an organizer tool.

Joni 🙂
