An alternate to a kit.

Today’s card is a tiny bit different as it is a bit of a conglomeration of ideas.  First, I started with a colored base, a new color at that.  The color is called Granny Apple Green.  And then I cut it long ways instead of the “normal” way.  I then took a piece of white cardstock and stamped the corners with Bokeh Dots in Lemon Lime Twist.  Then I trimmed a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Broadway Bound Specialties Papers.  Last I took a piece of whisper white cardstock and stamped from the Paper Pumpkin stamp set with Granny Apple Green ink.  I topped it all off with a remnant from a banner from the Paper Pumpkin kit.

Freezing punches.

So you have done it!  It…the enchanting word “it”.  You have managed to jam that cardstock into that punch and it won’t come out.  The springs are stuck and nothing is working.  You have dropped it gently on to the table, floor, or whatever other hard surface you have.  And those springs won’t budge!  I don’t want to call Joni to order a new one.  I want new product from the new catalog, not to waste money on something that is not working because I wasn’t careful.

So, for your last attempt before you call me, throw your punch (and whatever else is attached) into the freezer.  Yes, the freezer.  Give it a few minutes and see if that helps.  Often when metal gets cold it will contract.  This will give the springs enough space to release and you will get a do over.  You will get your happily ever after and get to order new toys instead of replacing your broken ones.

If you have to give this a try please comment and let me know if this works for you.

Simple details to complete a card.

It’s amazing to me how a different color of cardstock or a different pattern of designer series paper can make a card look so different.  Paper can make a card or project appear masculine, feminine, or somewhere in between.  So before you throw away that project that just doesn’t seem to want to come together try a different background, mat, or color.

Look how different each card looks.  It’s basically the same layout with just a different background.

Hobbies bring rest.

By the title I bet you think I will talk about stamping.  For many of you stamping is what brings you rest.  And I am sure at some point today I will stamp too.  But what other hobbies (or therapies) do you have?  I like to work out and also to cook.  So today I will be babysitting a brisket and in between getting a few things done.  Tell me what other hobbies do you have besides crafting?

Ideas for giving back.

Today’s Friday again and it’s time to focus on giving back or paying it forward.  I don’t know about you but sometimes I seem to run out of ideas or just feel like it is a routine since I do the same thing.  So I want to give you some ideas and see if it helps.

  1. Donate your time (or money) to a local charity.
  2. Leave a random uplifting note on someone’s windshield.  Here’s a site for ideas on these notes…Link for Positive Notes.
  3. Donate blood.

If anyone has any others please comment and let’s keep this ripple going.

Tiling on Father’s Day.

Here’s a card for you just in time for Father’s Day.  It uses the technique I call “tiling”.  Here are the directions.

Get a card base (thick white used here)(5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″).

Cut wood texture mat at 5 1/4″ x 4″.

Cut old olive strips at 5 1/4″ x 1/4″ and 4″ x 1/4″.

Take the punch from the darling punch box and punch out three “squares” from very vanilla cardstock.

Now place end to end and stamp. (Rooted in Nature used here)

Stamp the leaves with Old Olive ink.

Also stamp the greeting (Itty Bitty Greeting used) with Early Espresso ink.

Use snail to glue mat and strips.  Use dimensionals to pop up the tiles.

Here’s the completed card.

Making something smaller is often helpful.

You’ve heard that if you have a huge project to do that you should break it up into smaller chunks to get it done.  This also prevents feeling overwhelmed.  The same is true with our stamping products.  Just recently I cut a shammy into smaller pieces.  This is so when I use the Stamparatus I have something easy to clean my stamps with.

20180613_070213.jpg

So my challenge for you today is this…order the Stamparatus and you will get a chunk of shammy so you can clean easier too.  This offer is available until Monday the 18th.  Please use host code Y9H7NWTT when ordering online or contact me to order in person.

Tiled stamping.

This is probably the only time you will hear me say this.  Punch first and then stamp.  Yes, punch first.  Then lay your punches end to end and stamp as if it was one piece.  This will create a tiled look.

Stay tuned on Thursday to see the finished card.
