OnStage Games, Contests, and More

Each contest will run until I get back from OnStage (Sunday at 11:59 pm).

As I am finishing packing for OnStage I have a question for you…how many swaps did I complete?  Whoever guesses the correct number will get a free pack of dimensionals to keep you stamping.

Happy Crafting!

P.S.  I will comment with the correct answer and winner during Tuesday evening’s office hours.

Sparkles give a different image.

It’s Technique Tuesday!  This is not so much of a technique as it is a reminder that ink looks different on different papers.  Don’t be afraid to stamp on glimmer paper, foil paper, or anything else.

If you have questions on which kind of ink to use for which kind of paper please contact me.

Are you resting today?

It’s Sabbath Sunday!  Are you resting today for me?  I am on day 2 of the Reach Out Morongo Basin’s Craft Fair.  I am not resting much but I am getting to talk to people and do a bunch of crafting.  It’s a break from the routine but not one with my feet up.

I would encourage you to go out of your comfort zone and do something different today.  If you always go get breakfast on Sunday morning maybe order your eggs different.  You just might discover something new and like it.

Give Big or Small

It’s Friendship Friday!  This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.  If you didn’t know we just finished the Give Big campaign with the county.  This program is a focused effort on giving for 24 hours.  Non-profits in the local area sign up to “Give Big”.  There are prizes for how many people you get to give, at what time, certain amounts, etc.  Did you participate?  It’s a great way to make your dollar go further.

If you didn’t participate don’t worry, we can still Give Small.  I would encourage you to think (and act) every day to create impact or a ripple in someone else’s life for the better.  It doesn’t matter if someone is matching your dollar or if it is simply a smile to be shared with a stranger.  I would encourage you to just be present in the moment and be aware of how you are affecting others.

Creating texture.

It’s Tutorial Thursday!  When creating a card, texture plays a big part in helping to create depth to it.  In this case the Winter Woods tree trunks were stamped and the Corrugated Embossing Folder was used after.  Instructions to follow after the photo.

20181019_123547_wm.jpg

  1. Cut Thick Vanilla card stock to 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″.  Score at 4 1/4″ on the 8 1/2″ side.
  2. Cut Soft Suede card stock 5″ X 3 3/4″ and glue.
  3. Cut Vanilla card stock to 4 1/2″ X 3 1/4″.  Stamp tree trunks from Winter Woods set with Soft Suede.  Stamp trees with Early Espresso.  Run through Big Shot with Corrugated Embossing Folder.  Glue to mat.  Tip:  Place glue on mat and not on embossed vanilla as to not stretch or tear the card stock.
  4. Using the Detailed Deer Bundle, stamp deer with Early Espresso and sentiment with Real Red.  Cut out sentiment with Stitched Shapes dies.  Glue to embossed piece.
  5. Add a Red Rhinestone for the deer’s nose.

Half way!

We are half way through the Trick or Treat promotion!  Please remember that any current product order qualifies for the mystery host.  The order does not have to contain shimmer paint or stampin’ blends.  In order to take advantage of the promotion your order has to have the paint or blends.

When brads are used for more than decoration.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!  Do you know that a brad can be used for more than a decoration or embellishment?  It can also be used to hold vellum to a card base without any other adhesive.  But today we are talking about brads with a twist.

When using ribbon for an accent on a project it can be glued down straight, knotted, bowed, or even twisted.  Today we are twisting it.  Use the brad after twisting the ribbon to hold it in place.

If you don’t want the ends sticking out simply trim with a wire snips or cutter.
