Stamping on tile.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Don’t forget that our ink works on tile, glass, fabric, and more. In this case Early Espresso was used to stamp the deer on a tumbled travertine tile that was not glazed. After it was clear-coated it was allowed to dry for about an hour.

Cleaning up…

It’s Sabbath Sunday and today is a little different than most Sundays. Since Christmas is right around the corner today is a catch up, clean up kind of day for me. Last night was the Open House so I will be cleaning a bit and then taking some inventory. It’s time to clean out the Christmas craft fair inventory and begin for spring and Valentine’s Day. I will put some work in today so I don’t have to tomorrow or Tuesday.

What are you up to today?

Grinch or not?

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. I am finding that everything has a silver lining if you look hard enough. Since we are in the holiday season I will use the term being a grinch. It’s a choice. I can choose to be grateful that I have dishes to wash or I can look at the mess. (When things are super busy sometimes I am glad I chose paper plates.) All of life is about choices. So I will ask you are you choosing to be a grinch or grateful?

What to do when you are short on paper.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! While I am giving you instructions for this gorgeous card…remember this…I ran out of paper. Have you ever been in the middle of a project and been short? The thoughts go swimming through your head…”I thought I counted right”…”did the dog eat something”…”who used my good card stock to collage their notebook, again”. Sometimes it’s just simply that we miscounted.

But you still have to get that project done. Those Christmas cards are still waiting to be sealed. And now you are short. Well…here’s your solution…make panels. It doesn’t take as much card stock and you can use scraps instead of whole sheets. Now, before I get to the instructions, go make yourself a cup of tea and breathe. All the cards will go out.

Now that you are sitting a little more easy, let’s do this. First the picture and then the instructions.

  1. Cut thick very vanilla card stock to 11″X4 1/4″. Score at 5 1/2″ on the 11″ side.
  2. Cut merry merlot card stock to 5 1/4″X4″. Glue to base with snail adhesive.
  3. Cut mossy meadow card stock to 5″X3 3/4″. Do not glue yet so ribbon can be placed.
  4. Cut galvanized paper to 4 3/4″ X 1″ (3 times). Run through big shot with tin embossing folder and then glue down to mossy meadow with snail adhesive.
  5. Cut merry merlot ribbon to about 4 1/2″. Take glue dots and tack ribbon down to galvanized paper and wrap around mossy meadow mat.
  6. Now glue the mats together with snail adhesive.
  7. Stamp sentiment (Another Wonderful Year used here) with merry merlot ink. Punch out with everyday label punch. Adhere with dimensionals.

Measure twice, cut once.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!  I figured some of you might be trying to frantically finish your Christmas cards.  And I thought this might come in handy.

Size Chart

I know it’s not the typical Wacky Wednesday, but I thought it could be useful.

There’s a front and a back.

It’s Technique Tuesday!  Just a quick tip to remind you that there is a front and a back side to embossing folders.  Where the sizzix or stampin’ up! label is on the embossing folder is considered the front side.  The front side when embossed becomes raised.  The blank side of the folder is the back or where the pattern is recessed.  There is a time and a place for both raised and recessed.

Sabbath Sunday

It’s Sabbath Sunday!  Today is my day to plan and go at a slightly slower pace.  Sometimes planning means cleaning out.  I was going through the freezer this morning and found some spaghetti sauce that needs to be used.  It looks like today is the day to cook some rigatoni with sauce, roasted garlic, and parmesan for supper.  I would encourage you to clean out, prepare, and plan every so often also.  This, at least for me, allows for a little bit of calm in a pretty chaotic household.
