Embellishments instead of errors.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Have you ever created a card or project and not known what to put to finish it? Did you already glue it together and wish you had stamped? Then use embellishments!

In this case I had already glued the pocket on and knew that this needed something. I thought of stamping first but knew I really couldn’t with the folds. Instead I reached for the Frosted Flower Embellishments.

P.S. Just a reminder that there is open time at the studio today.

It is time to rest.

It’s Sabbath Sunday and it is time to rest. Tara, my daughter, has had a friend over this weekend. Joel, my husband, has had jobs. I vended at the Farmers’ Market and then held a class last night. I love what I do, but I have to say that I am looking forward to having a slower day (at least I hope so). So hopefully there is not a ton of cooking or cleaning to do because I want to put my feet up and look through pinterest.

What do you do to relax and say you’ve done nothing all day?

Sale-A-Bration!

It’s Sale Saturday! And Sale-A-Bration is in full swing. January is almost gone and with that one third of the sale too! Don’t wait until it’s the last week. Some things are already starting to sell out.

The butterfly and cake builder punches are nearly sold out. The good news is they will be back as I’ve heard they are being brought in to the new Annual Catalog in June.

So don’t wait!

If you would like to order online please use host code PWR46UJB. If you prefer to order in person please contact me. This code will be in use until Monday night at 7:30 pm.

Two ways to give back!

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. I have been approached by a dear friend, mentor, and fellow crafter. Lori is President of the Board for the 29 Palms Community Food Pantry. Currently the Food Pantry is holding not one, but two, fundraisers. So here are the details for each.

The first fundraiser is a night of Bingo at the Elks Lodge here in 29 Palms on Friday, February 15. Would you like to go with me and have some fun? There will be stamping (hopefully a blackout) and prizes!

The second fundraiser is less expensive and it is not an event. If you would like to purchase tickets for a chance to win this quilt please let me know.

The quilt was handmade by Susan Lunn and donated for this drawing. It is approximately 4’X4′. Tickets are 6 for $5. The winning ticket will be drawn at the Board Meeting on February 25.

All proceeds go to the 29 Palms Community Food Pantry. If you have any questions or would like to purchase tickets for either of these fundraisers please contact me.

I love when my fellow crafters make it so easy to give back. If you are a Red Door Crafter and involved with an organization that would like to be featured on Friendship Friday please contact me. I am always looking for new ways to give back and encouraging you to get involved. Our ripples become waves.

Creating heart cards.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I will show you how to create two heart cards for Valentine’s Day. They can also be switched for a wedding or anniversary. The biggest tip I have for you is to make sure the clear cutting plates are not scratched up so the foil paper does not get marred while being run through the Big Shot.

If you would like to see how to create these please check out the Tufted Hearts Video at https://youtu.be/EtpLnhdBrT0.

Sponge daubers for finger tips.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Do you like to snack while you craft? I do. I don’t know how many times I have to get up to wash my hands because I am scared to leave greasy fingerprints on my project. So here’s a suggestion…keep a never been used sponge dauber to the side. When needing a clean finger use the dauber to hold the project in place. Now I know I should go wash my hands but in case if this is easier for you, keep a dauber close by.

Coloring those butterflies.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I am going to show you an easy way to color the butterflies.

  • Stamp the butterflies with Memento ink.
  • Take a sponge dauber and make circles by going straight down. (I used Smoky Slate and Rich Razzleberry.) Do not blend or swirl.
  • Punch and enjoy.

Here is the finished product.

Taking a break.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! What do you do to take a break? I know many of you that teach are in the middle of grading and report cards. I know some of you are doing inventory and others are working on year end reports. So when everything is done how do you relax? How do you break up the routine?

For me it means going to a good dinner (not fancy but more comfort food). It means going in to the studio and just creating. Or it means having some fun at the mini golf place. And sometimes it means going to see a movie and escaping reality with a bucket of popcorn. I think today my daughter, Tara, has put in the request to see a movie. So it is off to the cinema we go.

Whatever you do I hope it is restful, peaceful, and rejuvenating.
