And we are back to Friday again.

Are the weeks going faster?  It seems as it gets hotter the weeks go faster.  Anyone else?

Without even thinking about it we are back to Friday again.  I am a little slow this morning since we had a get together last night.  We (8 of us) had dinner together, crafted, and created.  We created cards for Girls Love Mail.

Girls Love Mail is a group of people that deliver cards, hugs, and encouragement to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients beginning chemotherapy or radiation.  Their goal is to reach 40,000 letters this year.  So far they have about 12,000.  We made another about 40 cards to go out for this organization last night.  If you have cards to donate I will take them at any time.  We are mailing them off all the time.  I love it when our group comes together to create impact.

What are you focused on creating impact for today?

How to color on dark card stock.

Have you been wondering how to get a true color when coloring on dark card stock?  Well, here’s how and the full instructions for this card.

20180726_090708_wm.jpg

  1. Cut Basic Gray Card Stock at 5 1/2″ on 11″ side.  Score at 4 1/4″.
  2. Cut Whisper White Card Stock at 5 1/4″ x 4″.
  3. Glue white paper to gray base with snail adhesive.
  4. Cut Basic Black Card Stock at 5 x 3 3/4″.  Stamp with Versamark the flower from Blended Seasons stamp set (available August 1).  Sprinkle with Pineapple Punch embossing powder and melt with heat gun.
  5. Color the entire image lightly with the white Watercolor Pencils.  Then color as desired.  Use the Blender Pen to smooth and float the color as desired.
  6. Finish with sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings stamped with Basic Gray Pad on Whisper White Card Stock.  Punch out with Classic Label Punch.  Adhere with Mini Dimensionals and embellish with the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

When sun rays become tiaras.

If you are ever wondering what something was intended to be please ask.  I’ve had a few times where there are some backgrounds or little dots and I can’t figure out what stamp they coordinate with.  So, I call Stampin’ Up! and I’m happy to do that for you also.  Don’t get frustrated, ever.

In the stamp set Pocketful of Sunshine there are some sun rays that to me look like eyelashes.  Well, when I paired said eyelashes with This Little Piggy stamp set they were too big.  So my eyelashes became a tiara instead.

Don’t be afraid to look at things differently.

Don’t be scared to think opposite.

So many times we think that a background has to be lighter in color and the accents have to be dark or brighter.  This is not always the case.  For this background Basic Black Cardstock is used and the Pineapple Punch Embossing Powder (from the In Color stack) is the brightness.  Sometimes you need to think opposite.  Instead of coloring in, maybe you need to highlight.

Sunday is for resting and a little planning.

Are you resting today?  How is your day off going?  Mine is not going quite as planned but it’s okay.  My daughter worked today instead of yesterday so we still woke up early.  Of course it’s been a slower morning for the hubby and I.

So today I am cleaning a bit after Card Class this week.  I am getting the PDF’s up and ready to order.  And I am finishing up the 12th Anniversary Get Together for next Saturday night.

That should be enough, right?  What is on your list today?

So many ways to give back.

There are so many ways to give back or pay it forward.  It’s really only limited by your imagination.  You can buy lunch for a friend, pay for someone else’s coffee, mail a card, share a smile…to name a few.

Just recently I found a new way.  By attending events that you are involved in.  Tell me what’s important to you.  Let me give an example…

So yesterday, a bunch of us are having fun gathered together to craft at Card Class.  We all started to talk about what’s going on.  Since it’s summer and very hot there’s not as much happening since everyone is trying not to melt.  We talked about the movies, what’s on Netflix, bowling, and some crafting conventions.  Then we started digging a little deeper and started talking about the kids, grand-kids, grand-dogs.

One of our very own’s kids is playing a significant role in a play for the summer youth theater.  The talk became what night to go, dinner before, and on.  In the end a bunch of us are going to this play to encourage and have some fun.

Here’s where the give back comes in.  (I know you were wondering.)  If you could see faces light up by not only Mom, but also the crafters that are going you would think we won the lottery.  Remember it’s often the small things that make a huge difference.  Create your ripple of impact so it collectively grows in to a wave.

Want to go on a picnic?

This month’s Paper Pumpkin is picnic themed.  Have you gone on a picnic recently?  Do you pick up some fried chicken or do you make tamales?  What is your tradition?

For today’s picnic we are having paper.  I know it’s not the most appetizing but that’s what is on the menu.  I took the Apron of Love and the Basket Weave Embossing Folder and created this cherry pie in the sky card.  The basket and apple card are created from this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit.

No more kinks in your twine.

Have you ever unwound some of your twine to find all these kinks where it was folded?  What did you do to un-kink it?  Did you iron, soak, or lay out for days?  Here’s a tip for you.  Take a baby wipe and run the twine through it.  The moisture will take the kinks right out.
