For those of you that are currently subscribed to Paper Pumpkin this is a sneak peek to what next month’s kit is like.
Day 9 of 12 Days of Christmas
Today’s blog post is about resting and having fun. So my question is how do you let your mind go? How do you get new ideas? How do you stretch your creative muscles?
Comment with where you get your creative ideas and get a ticket per comment. Make sure to post separately. Please don’t repeat within your own comments. You can repeat or duplicate from someone else.
Happy Crafting!

Rest is often a break from the routine.
It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest and re-charge. Rest can be defined as a break from the routine. So, I will ask you, how do you break from the routine? I need some ideas for the bunch of us to do. Here’s what is being contemplated.
In October the play “Carrie” is being done with Theatre 29.
In November (the 3rd I believe) is the Beer & Wine Tasting at the Boys & Girls Club.
On November 30 there will be a first time Tuba Christmas at The River. (Joel is coordinating.)
Please let me know if you have other ideas.
Happy Crafting!

Day 8 of 12 Days of Christmas
Since it’s the first day of September that got me to thinking about firsts. My first kiss, my first ride on a motorcycle, my first trip overseas, my first stamp class, and on it goes. While all of these are great memories for me some stick out a little more than others.
My first ride on a motorcycle showed me that the feeling of freedom is often seasoned with the fear of my imminent doom.
My first trip overseas (that lasted almost four years) shaped me into much of who I am today. I learned that people can be different and can think different and it is just fine. It also showed me how much I take for granted here in my home country speaking and writing a language I am comfortable communicating with.
My first stamp class was one for the books. It started on an evening in 1999 with crossed arms and the proclamation that “I am not creative”. As the night eased on, my arms slowly came down my sides and I am became curious. By the end of the night I had created my first card with card stock, mulberry paper, beads, and wire. I know you are shocked…no stamping. And the rest is history. (Yes, I still have the card.)
As I began to learn my style for creating I realized I had a favorite tool which was also one of the first things I had ordered. It was a brass stencil. You could color, emboss, and even tear your card stock against it. We don’t sell them any longer and I’d probably not even order it today. My style, tastes, and orders have evolved over the years.
So, for today, please tell me what your first or favorite thing is. It could be your first experience with being creative. It could be your favorite tool. It could be what you ordered and why on your first order. Tell me about your firsts.
For each comment you will get 5 tickets for the contest.

An apple a day is for back to school.
It’s Tutorial Thursday and I am here to show you how to create this card!

- Cut Real Red Card Stock at 4 1/4″ X 11″. Score at 5 1/2″.
- Cut Vellum Card Stock at 4″ X 5 1/4″. Run through Big Shot with Basket Weave Textured Impression Embossing Folder. (For a map of the layers or sandwich to use please refer to page 222 in the Annual Catalog.)
- Take scraps of Whisper White Card Stock and stamp the apple three times all with Real Red. The first time you will stamp off twice and then stamp. The second time you will stamp off once and then stamp. And finally, the third time you will just ink and stamp. This gives the impression of layers. Then stamp the stem in Mossy Meadow ink. Cut out the apple with Paper Snips.
- Stamp the sentiment from Picked for You (also where the apple is from) in Real Red also. Then cut out with the medium oval from Stitched Shapes Framelits.
- Glue the white pieces to the vellum with Snail Adhesive. Then glue the vellum to the red base with Snail as well. Tip: you will want to stay behind the apple and words so the glue does not show through the vellum.
- Attach glue dots to all the corners to prevent the vellum from rolling up. Then cover with Faceted Dots.

Since it is Wednesday and sometimes referred to as “hump day” here’s what we are going to do. Please comment here or on facebook on what product you like the best to make humps. Let me explain. What is your favorite Stampin’ Up! product that helps you to create layers, texture, or pop something up?
Each comment will get you 3 tickets. Good luck!
