It’s Tutorial Thursday! This is the day we learn how to emboss on vellum, window sheets, and glossy card stock. To color them you will need the Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers). You can also emboss with powder and a heat tool but the blends bring a level of softness to the card.
It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! With the new ink pads there are quite a few things you can’t do that you used to be able to. You can’t dip your blender pen in the ink directly. The lid doesn’t bend to get ink in it and watercolor. And you can’t run your card stock in it to ink the edges.
Instead you need to grab a sponge or dauber to get your edges. And in order to watercolor or use a blender pen you need a clear block. Yes, a clear block.
Grab a clear block and dip it in an ink pad. Then use the ink on the block with the blender pen or aqua painter. You have created a flat art palette of sorts.
It’s Technique Tuesday! Have you ever thought that embossing folder is pretty and I love the details but they don’t seem to pop? Have you tried it on glossy paper? I recently received a swap at OnStage and another demonstrator had taken the Country Floral 3D Embossing Folder and paired it with glossy paper. It was gorgeous!
Be watching for this technique tomorrow evening on Facebook Live at 7 pm.
It’s Management Monday! This is a look at what’s happening this week.
With a title like that and me just getting back from OnStage I bet you thought this would be a sneak peek into the new Annual Catalog. Not today! Not yet! But if you want your own copy I will be ordering them in the beginning of May. Please let me know if you would like one.
All that being said…here’s a snapshot for this week.
Yes, I will be still having Open Time today at the studio.
Tomorrow starts Card Class (and Thursday and Saturday twice). If you haven’t reserved your seat there is still time. The reservation deadline for Thursday’s class is TODAY by 7:30 pm!!! For Saturday’s sessions the reservation deadline is Wednesday! Don’t forget to tell me that you are coming.
The retiring list will be out a little later today so be watching your email!!!
If you would like to order please use host code SXRN3VAW which helps me to provide the rewards basket. If you prefer to order in person the order goes in tonight at 7:30 pm.
It’s Sabbath Sunday! While I am travelling back from OnStage and unpacking (laundry, etc.) my daughter is beginning her spring break. Now today is not much of a break for her as she is away for a Drumline Competition, but I know some of the weekdays will have sleeping in as part of her schedule.
Yes, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I believe she is in five different bands at school as well as her core classes. I can’t blame her as it runs in the veins. I come from a long line of go-getters. Both of my Gramas and many of my Aunts and Uncles are of the same mindset. We tend to go and when there is a day off much of it involves being horizontal.
So as our house gets a week “off” I will ask you how you break up your routine to keep your perspective fresh and vibrant.
It’s Sale Saturday! While there is not much on sale since Sale-A-Bration is over there is quite a bit still on the Clearance Rack. Do you know how to find the Clearance Rack? Simply go to http://www.jonidaniel.stampinup.net and click on shop and then clearance rack.
Since there is not much on sale I will remind you that the older In Colors will be retiring. Stock up on your refills and card stock now.
If you would like to order online please use host code SXRN3VAW to help me finish re-stocking the rewards basket. If you prefer to order in person please contact me. This host code will be good until 7:30 pm on Monday.
It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward. Instead of thinking about what to do or buy to make someone feel better, loved, or wanted maybe it’s just time to listen. I learned this from my daughter this week. She was on the phone, yes phone, not texting or messaging, and just being a friend. One of her friends had a difficult day and she was laying on her bed with ear buds (headphones) and simply just listening. Not really talking but listening. Not giving advice but just being present for her friend.
This was a great reminder for me to set aside time to just be present for those closest to me. So I will ask you, how often do you truly listen to those around you?
It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today’s blog post is not really a tutorial for a creation but instead how to get organized. In case you haven’t noticed Stampin’ Up! has a new storage system.
And here’s what it looks like in my studio…
I love that all the markers, pencils, and blends are in the same place.
It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Did you know that daisies can become bunnies? Remember to look at your products upside down, sideways, and in pieces.
If you clip off all but two of the petals for the daisy punch you get a bunny for Easter. Just remember that the head still needs to be round.
We will be creating this card for Card Class next week. Join me!
Happy Crafting!
With inky fingers,
Joni 🙂
P.S. Did anyone notice anything different this week? A pack of dimensionals to you if you get it right.
