There are some cute samples and projects with this video so check them out.

Fall is finally in the air in the desert. Well at least in the mornings and evenings. It’s still about 90 during the heat of the day. So I’m sitting this morning and enjoying my cup of tea listening to the birds chirping in the desert willow tree. Sounds peaceful, right?
Well, here’s the entertaining part. My standard poodle, Shadow, is still very much a bird dog. In between the chirps is a big bark and some unsuccessful jumps to get that bird. He points and is ready to pounce if only he was about 18 feet taller.
As you rest today (hopefully) remember that life is about the peaceful moments but also the entertaining ones. I’ve learned that while I rest I am reminded that my home is not normal (whatever that is). So enjoy your normal and I’ll go embrace my hopping poodle.

I am reminded that it is often the little things that make or break you. Last night was a great reminder of this. I was at one of the local elementary schools for their Trunk or Treat. As sugary kids are running around like crazy zombies I had one child that approached my booth. He didn’t ask for anything. He just stood there. He was a cute Spiderman but just stood there patiently waiting. After the other kids had gone he looked up and said “trick or treat”. He was so sweet, respectful, and patient. If I could have given him the whole bucket of candy I would have. He reached in and very carefully picked his one piece. Not a handful, but one piece. And his reply, “thank you”. I thanked him for being patient and proceeded to give him a handful of treats. His eyes lit up as I explained it was for being good. He skipped away talking about how much candy he got. Little does he know that what he did was bring back that twinkle in my eyes as well.
This story reminded me how a little patience, an extra smile, and maybe an extra piece of candy can go a long way. Go and make an impact with your ripples. You never know how that little something will make such a difference to turn someone’s day, week, year, or life around.

Once in a while you actually need to use your scraps. That folder, bin, or bag gets full! Use those bits and pieces! Trim them into similar shapes and create a background.

If you have bigger pieces then you can create mats or accents like the vanilla wood plank. Now go create!

Sometimes dimensionals are not to bring things up but to level them out. When doing a shaker card you have an area that is higher than the rest. This is where the shaker is. To level out the card so nothing ends up concave use dimensionals to level it out.

Today’s tutorial is all about the new stampin’ blends. These are Stampin’ Up!’s new alcohol markers that are awesome! They are available November 1st (next Wednesday).
Here is a cute card using the blends and a picture guide on what to do. So…let’s get started.

Step 1: Stamp with Memento ink. This will allow for no smearing.

Step 2:Â Get out a light and dark of the same color as well as the color lifter.

Step 3: Color as desired. I started with the darker color and left a blank space for the highlight on the right side of the balloon. I used the color lifter to bring some texture and depth to the balloon.

Step 4: Finish coloring. Notice the shading.

Step 5: Attach balloon with dimensionals. (I used the technique from a few Wednesdays ago. This is the one that used the tip of the aqua painter to make the edges roll down.) Mat and finish the card by stamping an appropriate greeting.

Today is the first day in many weeks that I’ve put my feet up. It is time to rest, finally. What are you up to today? I hope you’re having some fun.
I am in the craft room, doing a little cooking, a couple loads of laundry, and maybe washing the truck (long overdue). Yes, this is rest to me. It’s time to get things back in order after running like crazy. And then I will be back at it. Sometimes you need a second to breathe, re-group, and come back stronger.
Happy Crafting!
