Giving back…

I’m writing this a little late since I am just getting back from having breakfast with a friend.  Some days you just need some french toast and a good friend.  No one else is going to take care of you except you.

This has been a trying week but also a great one.  As I try to wrangle through how to set up a website and a virtual shop I was reminded why I am doing this.  It’s you!  I started to stress out about how to code things, how they look, placement, etc.  But I have had card class this week.  It’s the people.  It’s you.  If I can reach a few more crafters so they can get their therapy then it is all worth it.  It may not be up as fast as I wanted, but it’s worth it.

So without you realizing it I will say thank you to you.  You filled me up this week and reminded me of my why without you even realizing it.  Now go mail a card, take someone to lunch, share a smile.  Whatever you do, do it.

Lucky the Leprechaun has visited!

Last night’s Live I created two shamrock cards for the upcoming St. Paddy’s Day.  One was using the pear out of the mini fruit punch set.  The other was using the itty bitty heart from the cookie cutter punch.  Regardless of which you choose to create you will need some glue dots and a good pair of tweezers or the piercing tool.  If you have questions please comment, message, e-mail, or call.

Painters defeat envelopes.

Did you know that the aqua painter can be used to seal envelopes?  Just take the aqua painter and fill with water.  Squeeze the barrel and swipe along the glue strip.  Seal and mail your card, invitation, etc.

Here’s to making crafting easier and no more papercuts on your tongue.

Pears can be clovers.

As St. Patty’s Day comes closer I always start to look for cute cards.  This is one of those holidays where I don’t usually buy a specific stamp set but I still want to create something for it.  Did you know that the pear punch in the mini set becomes a leaf for a clover?

Giving back to the community.

I love today and our focus of giving back or paying it forward.  Today I am up at the local high school for a career exploration day.  The students walk through and talk to real career professionals. They get an idea what it takes to qualify and excel in a certain field.  So I am presenting myself in my crafting uniform (glittery shirt, jeans, and boots) and showing that with some outside the box thinking just about anything and any passion can become a way of life.

But do you know the best part?  I love that feeling knowing that I am making an impact.  It’s so fulfilling to know that I just might be helping someone to decide their future.

How do you impact your circle of friends, family, or strangers?

Basket-weaving 101.

Today’s card looks much more complicated than it actually is.  Here are the steps.

  1.  Cut white thick card base to 8 1/2 X 5 1/5 inches.  Score at 4 1/4 inches.
  2. Cut whisper white cardstock to 5 1/4 inches X 4 inches.  This is your mat.
  3. Take a piece of scrap white cardstock for the stamped basket.
  4. You will also need burlap ribbon, berry burst ribbon, basket bundle, glue dots, dimensionals, and fast fuse adhesive.  Snail adhesive will work as well.

The following are photos to illustrate how to color the white cardstock to create your weave.

Stamp the basket with memento ink and color with the stampin’ blends (alcohol markers).

Cut out the basket after stamping and coloring a butterfly in the handle.  Glue with glue dots for the ribbon, fast fuse for the mat, and dimensionals for the basket cutout.
