Rest is a good thing.

Rest is a good thing and by rest I mean a change in routine.  What are you doing today to change it up?  I am doing a little shopping and a nice dinner to celebrate my husband and I’s wedding anniversary.  It was yesterday but both of us had classes and concerts to perform at.  So today it is.  So I will say it’s a good day for some bbq.

Thank you for filling me up.

This has been the beginning of the whirlwind for me.  7 events in 11 days.  Some say I’m nuts.  Some say I have lost it.  And some just shake their head and walk away.  Personally, I love it.  I love getting together with you.  I love the laughter, the hugs, and just gathering together.  Thank you for filling me back up.  This is the reason I do what I do.  You.  The people.

So on this Friday remember to focus on giving back.  You never know who, what, or how you will effect someone else.  Go make your ripples.  Get down to your mailbox and send some happy mail.  Take someone to lunch.  Give someone a smile that desperately needs one.  Make a difference in your own way whether big or small.

Thinking inside the box.

Sometimes thinking inside the box is what it takes.  Here is a box created from one 8 inch square piece of designer series paper and the steps to create it.  You can also use cardstock or specialty paper.

  1.  Take the envelope punch board and punch and score at the 2 inch mark on all 4 sides.
  2. When you have punched all 4 sides then flip the paper over.
  3. Punch and score again at the 2 inch mark.
  4. Take the corner tabs and score from end to end.
  5. Fold and burnish all score lines.
  6. Tuck the corners by folding in half and gluing together.
  7. If you want, glue the inner flaps to the inside of the box.
  8. Fill with desired contents.
  9. Fold top flaps to close.
  10. Use a dimensional, glue dot, velcro, and/or ribbon to secure.
  11. Enjoy!

Pieces and parts.

Last night we had a good time at the Encouragement Class.  Not only did we create encouragement cards for cancer patients, but we had a good time doing it.  And through everything I learned something.  Take the pieces and parts of everything.

A leaf punch becomes a flower’s stem after snipping the leaves off.  A tulip is created with a couple of dies in the shape of hearts.  Let your imagination run wild.  You never know what can be created.

Correction for brusho sealing technique.

I was wrong.  You heard me.  I was wrong.  Now you know I’m not perfect (if you didn’t already know many times over).  Last week’s tutorial for the new brusho product was not completely accurate.  As I continue to experiment with this product I have found that hairspray is not the best sealer.  It is best to let it dry fully and then spray with a matte clear sealer.  I sprayed my card with a clear aerosol can sealer and now no blue rubs off.  So, put the correction on record, to use a sealer and not just hairspray for brusho.

Sundays are for rest. What is your therapy?

Besides papercrafting, can you guess my other kind of therapy?  If you’ve been to many of my classes you can probably guess.  Cooking is another of my therapies.  I don’t bake well (don’t like to measure) but I love to cook.  Not gourmet, just cook.

What do you do to unwind?  Do you hike, just turn off your phone, or take a nap?  Those all sound good for today.  Whatever you do…make sure to unplug so you can come back re-charged.
