Putting texture on texture.

Sometimes even the most beautiful paper needs a boost.  I dropped about a dozen drops of Grapefruit Grove ink in the spritzer and filled the rest with water.  I then took a box so my whole craft room didn’t have ink on it.  I placed the piece of wood textured paper in the box and then spritzed away.

There’s not much difference except that there is now an under tone of that pinkish orange color on the right.  This will give a bit of richness to the card when finished and help it to coordinate nicely.

Stay tuned on the Live Wednesday at 7 pm for more techniques like this.

For the complete tutorial check back here on Thursday.

Here’s what’s happening.

This week is the last week of school so it’s a little crazy in this house as we get everything finished, turned in, and checked off the list.  I do have a private party this week but nothing to invite you to.  On top of that is my daughter’s 16th birthday at the end of the week.  So this week is a little out of the normal, even for me.

Next week is Card Class!  Save the date for Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday.  Invitations will be coming shortly!

I do have an order being submitted tonight at 9 pm.  If you would like to order please use host code VZB6PYY3 to help Linda out.  You can also contact me if you prefer to order in person.

The contest for today is any order over $25 in product will receive your choice of rhinestones or pearls for FREE!

There are office hours and open times to drop in, call, email, message, etc. today.

Giving back!

I am sure you have heard the news of the volcano erupting on the island of Hawaii.  Well, one of the fellow demonstrators lost her house in this natural mess.  She doesn’t need supplies but she would love some happy mail.  I will be mailing over a package mid June.  If you have cards or projects (with only current Stampin’ Up! product) she needs help.  She will be able to get her supplies back but her blog is suffering.  With the new catalog starting she is at a loss for ideas.  Will you send her a card?

Please have all mail for this beautiful and fellow demonstrator to me by Monday, June 11.  Let’s give back to our own family in need.

Small items become part of a larger whole.

Yesterday we talked about how glue dots can become a focal point for grouping sequins.

Well, today the finished card appears from these groupings.

If you don’t know what to create simply group small things and make it happen.

Here are the directions:

  1. Grab a white thick piece of cardstock.
  2. Cut in half (at 4 1/4″) and score (at 5 1/2″).
  3. Stamp a sentiment using Blueberry Bushel ink.
  4. Make groupings of sequins using glue dots.
  5. Adhere to card.

Enjoy and mail!

Glue dots can be used to group items.

Just when you thought the mini glue dots were small and they couldn’t do more, here is another idea.  Take your paper piercer and place a glue dot at the end of it.

Then stick small sequins to the end of it.  Now you have a cluster of sequins instead of placing them one at a time.  Stay tuned tomorrow for the tutorial for a card on this technique.

It’s the simple things.

Sometimes a paper is so detailed that there is not much that needs to be done.  Take the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper on page 189.  It makes card making so easy.  Add a cute accent and you are all set.  For the tutorial go to last week’s Facebook Live or You Tube.

Taking a day off.

I am taking the day off like many of you.  I know it’s weird but I am checking out.  I am working on some things so don’t be alarmed if you see some activity from me, but for the most part I am not working today.  So, no open times today please.  I will be back at it tomorrow.

On Wednesday there will be no facebook live as there is one more school meeting that I have to attend.

But, on Friday, I will be at the Methodist Church vending at their Parking Lot Sale from 9-1.

Be watching for some fun contests starting tomorrow and leading up to when the catalog goes live on June 1 (Friday).

If you would like to place an order online please use host code DTRJJFJN which will be good through May 31.  If you prefer to order in person please contact me.

Happy Crafting!

Joni 🙂
