To Rest is to Recover Your Strength

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest so you can be recharged for the week.

I recently was working out and realized how sore I was. I felt rather weak and was having trouble lifting heavier things that normally I could do. So I took a couple of days off, ate right, and drank a bit more water than I normally do. And it worked. It seemed that I was able to do more now.

Often I read in blogs for exercise or mental strength to make sure to schedule in rest days. This allows the muscles to heal from the little tears that happen during exercise. This process allows for the build up of strength. But there is a balance to work and rest. Too much rest and you don’t build strength. Too much work and you can’t rest and can’t continue to be productive. It’s all a balance. And for me that balance changes with the weather, my age, stress levels, and so many other factors.

I recently looked up the definition of rest. According to the dictionary site, “Rest is to cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength”.

Are you able to find your balance?
