It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to talk to you about watercoloring in detail.
Sometimes when we watercolor it goes towards backgrounds or eclectic layouts. Well today I want to show you how to watercolor in detail. So I have taken the fine tip of the Water Painters and filled the barrel with water. I then dropped about 4 drops each of the ink colors Magenta Madness, Bumblebee, and Just Jade on to a clear block.
I then dripped one or two drops of water from the brush tip on to the chosen color. When coloring I went to the center of the image and just barely dropped the color. After I moved the ink as I wanted with the brush being careful to not add any more water or ink.
The stems and some of the detail is difficult to see in the photo. When I first stamped the image I did it with the Versamark Pad and then embossed with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Then a quick zap with the Heat Tool and I was ready to color or paint.
If you create with this technique please let me know how it turns out.
Happy Crafting!
With inky fingers,
Joni 🙂
P.S. The stamp set is from this month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit. If you would like to purchase this set please shop at https://stampingwithjoni.wordpress.com/shop/ after March 10. All items in my online shop are while supplies last. To see more projects with this kit please plan on joining me on Wednesday at 7 pm for my Facebook Live at http://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni. If you can’t make it then catch the video on the replay on the same page.
It’s Management Monday! Here’s what’s happening this week.
I have Open Day sessions today! I have one opening in the morning and both for the evening. This will be the last Open Day by RSVP. Please read further down for more details.
From now through Saturday the 27th at 7:30 pm if you place a $50 or more product order you will get your Sale-A-Bration picks from the brochure as well as a bonus Sale-A-Bration item from me. After ordering you will receive an email from me asking what your choice is.
You can order either online or in person. When ordering online please use the link http://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=9JKGWVHN to qualify. If you prefer to order in person please contact me.
My office hours continue to be Monday – Saturday from 9:30 am – 7:30 pm and I am only closed on Sundays.
For my Team if you place a $50 in product order please email me with your product total (before shipping and tax)(AKA CSV) by Saturday evening so you can qualify for the bonus.
I have canceled the Spring/Easter Class for this Saturday the 27th. I have had a few too many things going on.
Please put a reminder on your calendar for Wednesday at 7 pm. I will be going Live on my Facebook Page http://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni to show you how to use the Paper Pumpkin Kit as well as a few other techniques you won’t want to miss. And remember there is a bonus for you being live with me.
For my Team please save the date for the next Team Gathering on Wednesday, March 3 at 5:30 pm. The theme for creating will be the Butterfly Bouquet.
For my Crafters please save the date for Card Class happening on Thursday, March 11 in Yucca Valley or on Saturday, March 13 in Twentynine Palms.
There will also be Bingo on Saturday, March 27. It will have a birthday theme and will be an in-person event.
And last, but not least, if you haven’t heard…I am lifting restrictions for my classes and Open Day starting March 1. Let me explain. So the maximum capacity for a class will go back to 12. You will still have your space and your own snips and adhesive. I have also re-formatted classes so that each table will work on a project at a time. This means we can have two rooms going with still minimal wait times and virtually no sharing.
This also means that Open Day is once again truly open (starting March 1)! I am not requiring RSVP’s and there will be no invitation to go out. You will only need to tell me that you are coming if you would like me to have something specific out for you. There will be reminders and you can drop in for a minute or the entire two hours.
Thank you for being a part of this crafty family!
Happy Crafting!
With inky fingers,
Joni 🙂
P.S. If you missed this month’s Paper Pumpkin and are wishing you hadn’t then please put March 10 on your calendar. Each month I order one additional kit which usually goes into my online shop the following month on the 10th. So if you wish you had the Bouquet of Hope Kit please check my shop at https://stampingwithjoni.wordpress.com/shop/ on the 10th to order this kit. All items are while supplies last.
It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can be recharged for the upcoming week.
Assuming you have put the work in and your body or mind truly needs a break then do not feel guilty. You deserve the break and very probably need it. So enjoy it.

Please be watching this week as there will be some awesome announcements for how classes are changing and a bonus to boost your last days of Sale-A-Bration!
It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
I have to say this has been a challenging week. The mountain was tall but I can almost see the top (until the next one). My daughter moved out for college this week. Do I need to say more? Many of you know already. And many of you have gone through the same thing so you really do know.
So I do have to say thank you. Thank you for the extra prayers, the thoughts, texts, calls, etc. Your touches were truly felt.
But now I have something different to ask. When you create a card for Easter or whatever could you send an extra one to a college kid? Please contact me if you would like her address.
Thank you for being a part of this crafty family!
If you have a need that can be impacted by a card being sent please contact me.
It’s Tutorial Thursday! Usually I would have a tutorial but I have to say that things have been a bit up in the air lately. You see my only daughter moved away yesterday. She found her own apartment and is off to college. So forgive me for no tutorial. Instead I want to share a hidden gem with all of you.
So you know that I get my ideas from everywhere. Here are just a few of the places I look for those cute creations.
YouTube
Pinterest
Google (and then click on images)
Demonstrator chat boards
Facebook Groups
Shops
And so much more!
But I also follow the blog called So Shelli. So Shelli is written by our co-founder Shelli Gardner and gives a perspective to Stampin’ Up! that many do not see. You do not have to be a demonstrator to follow or subscribe to this blog. You simply have to sit down, read, and maybe even comment. So I would encourage you to take a look. Here’s the link…https://www.soshelli.com/.
Thank you for grace. Next week I will be back and running again. Just needed a minute to pack up, truck, and organize my baby’s new life.
It’s Wacky Wednesday! This is the day where a product is used in a way it is not intended!
Today we are talking about starting those spring or Easter cards. And, let me guess, you haven’t ordered much yet for Easter. Well, believe it or not, I am right there with you. I have a couple of sets but I am not quite ready. (That’s what next week is for.) So instead of panicking, let’s take some of what we already have and re-purpose it. That is what you thought I was going to say, right? 🙂
Many of you have purchased the Double Oval Punch. Did you know that the scallop can double as an edge of a cracked egg? So let’s punch the egg from the straight-edged oval, cut the egg in half (or a third and two thirds), and then punch the “cracked edge” with the scallop. Tip: You might need a post it note to get that small half of the oval lined up in the punch.
Isn’t that cute?
When you create your own please post to my page, https://www.facebook.com/StampingWithJoni. Simply use the link or go to Facebook and search for my page “Stamping With Joni and the Red Door Crafters”. When you are on the page simply click to create post and make sure to post when done. I look forward to seeing your creations.
It’s Technique Tuesday! Do you know how to create a border with little effort?
Grab your stylus and go around the edge of your die cutout to create a raised edge or border. You will want to leave the card stock in the die to more easily create that bump. One other tip is to grab your pierce mat to provide some cushion to get a more in depth image.
Let me know if you try this technique and if you like it.
So here’s the contest. From now until midnight of Monday, February 15 finish some of those piles. Take a picture of the project before (unfinished) and after (finished). Then post those pictures on my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni. For each post I will give you an entry to have a chance to win the host bonus set Punch Party. The winner will be drawn and announced on Tuesday the 16th.
Open Day is today! I have one spot open this morning and I am full tonight. Let me know if you are coming this morning. Please be looking for the invitation for next week’s sessions on Thursday at 6 am.
This week I will not be doing a Facebook Live as I have some family things that need to be taken care of. Please join me next week on the 24th.
You have until Wednesday the 17th to get Betty’s Bonus.
This runs from now until February 17.
This is an exclusive bonus requested by Betty. In order to qualify for this bonus you need to place an order of $50 or more in product by February 17 at 7:30 pm. (This counts for Club.) Please use the link http://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=SPG6PHSG to qualify. I would suggest to create the 10 cards that you order the Dragonfly Garden Bundle and the stamp set Comfort & Hope. For the bonus you will get mailed separately the Dandy Laser-Cut Paper, Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems, materials to create the 10 cards with envelopes, and the template for the one sheet wonder technique.
Save the date for the Spring/Easter Class on Saturday, February 27 from 10-1 or 3-6. We will be creating with the new Gilded Leafing Embellishment.
It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can be recharged for the week.
As I sit here typing this blog I am also thinking about a million things. My mind wanders off about what I need to get at the grocery store, what is needed to start the next semester of college for my daughter, and where Joel (hubby) is next week when I have a dental appointment. I try to reel my thoughts back in so I can finish writing, but I am having trouble focusing. I am reminded that I need to block some time off to relax.
Relaxing will allow my brain to reset. It will bring things back to focus again. The distractions will melt away. I am reminded that I need to rest as the knots in my shoulders kink up just a bit more.
Sometimes before resting a massage is in order. Sometimes you need help breaking down the stubborn things in life before you can let go.
What needs to be broken down or simplified for you so you can truly rest and relax?
