Paying it forward locally.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I know I’ve talked about many ways to give back or pay it forward. Some have been personal and some have simply been lists to get you more ideas on what to do. Well today’s is a bit local.

Recently I found a group on facebook called “pay it forward Morongo Basin”. Here is the link for the group if you want to join, https://www.facebook.com/groups/557345691278803. This group is if you are in need as well as giving. I hope this finds you well and gives a glimpse of some local kindness.

What to do with those extra labels.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Instead of a tutorial today I thought I would continue to give you tips on how to organize your crafty space.

The re-inker bottles are often hard to see the labels if stored in a shallow box or in the storage trays we have. So instead of pulling each and every bottle up to read the label halfway down, use one of the extra stickers from your ink pad to create a band around the lid.

Tack down shelf paper with our adhesive.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Not only does our Stampin’ Seal + work on card stock, but it also works on shelf paper. That’s right. One of our crafters recently was doing some spring cleaning. She replaced her shelf paper in her kitchen cabinets. They were curling a bit on the edges. She ran the Stampin’ Seal + along the edges and they stopped coming up. So the next time you need a corner that is curling to stick down consider looking in your crafty space to solve the problem.

P.S. Credit to Iris for the idea. Thank you.

Getting organized.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Normally I would give you a new technique but today is going to be a little bit different. Instead of a technique I want to give you a tip on how to get organized. This is because the new catalog is soon to begin and I am clearing things out. I thought you might be also.

So, to get your bling or embellishments in order grab a stamp case and place a label on it. This will allow you at a glance to see what you have in stock.

Rest is for recovery.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting and recharging for the week.

I looked up the word rest at the online dictionary and this is what I found.

rest/rest/

verb

  • 1.cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength:”he needed to rest after the feverish activity”Similarrelaxtake a restease up/offlet up
  • 2.be placed or supported so as to stay in a specified position:”her elbow was resting on the arm of the sofa”Similarliebe laidreclinerepose

noun

  • 1.an instance or period of relaxing or ceasing to engage in strenuous or stressful activity:”you look as though you need a rest

There are a few things that struck me. First, it says to cease work or movement in order to relax. It doesn’t say to wait until you finish. Second, it says an instance or period of relaxing or ceasing to engage in strenuous or stressful activity…

It does not say wait until you finish. It says to stop when you need a minute to catch your breath. I don’t know about you, but I needed to hear this. I often will say “when I am done…”. Rest is so you can be refreshed and get back to work with a new enthusiasm or fervor.

Ideas on how to pay it forward.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward!

Do you ever get stuck in a rut and don’t know what exactly to do to make impact? I’m always looking for new ideas and ways to create a ripple of kindness, especially if it doesn’t cost much. I ran across this list and thought there were some really great ideas on how to pay it forward.

Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Compliment those around you.
  • Listen intently to people’s stories without trying to fix everything.
  • Hold the door open for the person behind you.
  • Donate blood.
  • Stop and buy a drink from a kid’s lemonade stand.
  • Write a great review for a business that has gone above your expectations.

Stamping with no stamps.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I want to show you how to create a background with no stamps. We are still using blocks, but no stamps!

To create this technique you will need a piece of card stock (Seaside Spray used here). Stamp the Clear Blocks with the ink pad directly. Then start off the edge of the card stock if you don’t want any lines and swipe across. You can also do this directly with your ink pad and not on the block at all. But be careful with this one. If you press too hard or not evenly then you take a chance of catching the edge and tearing it. Personally I prefer it with the block.

The background for this card was done with this technique and then stamped over it to create even more texture.
