Passion helps volunteering to thrive.

It’s Friendship Friday!  This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.  Today hits a little close to home as it is about my husband, Joel.  Joel is a musician through and through and if you don’t know him he is either on or off.  He is either sleeping or going a million miles an hour.  So it is probably no surprise to you when I say that his passion of music is also where he volunteers.

He volunteers at the local high school helping with the marching band.  He teaches music theory, fixes instruments, listens to the kids, and pretty much anything else to keep the band in step.  I am not saying all of this to have someone pat me or him on the back.  What I am saying is that I find it very interesting that if the field where you are asked to volunteer is your passion it is so much easier to be willing to give your time.

So look at what you are passionate about.  If it’s sewing, maybe ask the neighbor kid if she or he would like to learn.  Cooking, then teach someone your favorite recipe.  Figure out what is fun for you and pass it on.

Happy Crafting!

With inky fingers,

Joni 🙂
