And Friday is back!

Are the birds chirping a little more today?  It’s Friday after all.  And for us it’s the day to look for ways to give back or pay it forward.  What will you do today to cause a ripple?  I rarely know what I will do for an extra good deed when I wake up, but by the end of the day it’s obvious.  If you have a great and interesting way to give back please post in the comments to get our brains moving in the right direction.

Happy Crafting!

P.S.  I hope to see you today from 1-6.  Come get your Holiday Catalog!

Bleach gives texture

Sometimes it’s not more ink that you need.  Sometimes it’s less paper.  Bleach, while not great for your stamps, has an awesome affect on your cardstock.  You can create your own ink pad with a paper plate and some paper towels.  Make the paper towel damp with bleach.  (It is best to have a paper towel with no ink.)  Then “ink” your stamp and place on cardstock.  It will take a few minutes to dry and soak in.

Make sure when finished that you clean your stamps a bunch so there is no bleach residue left.

How to stay consistent with punching

When you look at your products sometimes you need to look upside down and sideways.  Did you know a circle punch can create a scalloped border?  A pair of sunglasses becomes a mustache?  I’m sure there are plenty more but you get the idea.

When you punch for the border, for example, you want your punch depth to be consistent.  Place a piece of washi tape across the punch so you know how far in to place your cardstock.

Now you are ready to rock your border or whatever else you choose.  If you give this a try please post pictures in the comments or on the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/StampingWithJoni

Bits and pieces from the office and the studio

I know you probably think that crafting only happens in the studio.  But, it doesn’t.  It happens everywhere.  While you are at the grocery store a color on your soap could make you want to create.  Or, in this case, a simple notepad.

I’ve been doing quite a bit of back to school shopping and I think it is starting to impact my creative side.  So, this card takes bits and pieces from all over.  The notepad is from the office drawer.  The letters are from the retired stack.  And the saying is a preview of what’s to come from the Holiday Catalog!

Remember to look in your kitchen drawers, the store, and in your catalog.  The catalog is full of ideas.

P.S.  Save some time on Friday to drop by and pick up your Holiday Catalog!  More details coming today or tomorrow.  (If you are in Yucca Valley it will be Thursday afternoon.)

It’s a day to rest…

It’s Sunday and my day to rest.  I’m not sure if this is your day but I hope you have a day blocked off to have some fun or to re-charge.  So what do you do to breathe?  Do you read a book, go hiking, jump in the car…?  Comment below with what helps you to re-focus.  For me, it will be some crafting later today.

Sales, Classes, and More!

It’s Saturday and hopefully you are able to take a second and enjoy that coffee instead of gulping it down as you run out the door.  With school starting soon the hustle and bustle will be back and running full force.  So take a moment to sit down and create.  Get that page ready for the first day of school pictures.

If you think life will get crazy don’t forget to still take a moment to have some down time.  If you need something to help with that so you don’t have to think try Paper Pumpkin.  It’s 50% off now until September 10th for new subscribers.

And we are back to Friday again!

This week has gone so fast I can’t believe it.  And I have to admit that I didn’t get my card or cards mailed last week.  So today I already have one mailed off and I am working on a bunch of thank you cards.  Who do you need to take note of today?  Is there someone on your mind?

Remember to take a minute to enjoy life because before you know it the kids are gone and the house is quiet again.  I have three years before my daughter finishes high school.  While I am looking forward to watching what she chooses to do in life it also terrifies me.  All that time I put in to her.  Was it enough?

My point is simply this…take time to enjoy the moments because before you know it they are gone.  Just like I intended to mail a card last week and I look up and it’s Friday again.  Go mail the card (said to me too). 🙂

Techniques can make a card

As I was having fun with Facebook Live last night I realized how much the little things matter.  I had missed the trash can and grumbled about how much effort would be spent picking up what didn’t want to go in.  Last night’s card was proof of that.  The little bit of glue to make some of the wine red finished the card.  So, I am reminding you that it is often the little things that matter the most.  Pay attention.  Happy Crafting!

Enamel dots are not just for projects

Do you have a hard time finding out what color is what in your re-inker bottles?  Mine are all stacked up and I often can’t read the side.  Or I have had to wipe the side of the bottle (because we had too much fun) and now the label isn’t all there.  Here’s an idea for you…put an enamel dot on the top of the bottle with the corresponding ink color.

Now it’s easy to see what color is what.  If you decide to order the enamel dots on page 196 please use host code FYDPPBPN.
