Usually I would have something to blog about here, whether it be about friendship or crafting techniques. But today I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I will demonstrate how to create an easy and not traditional New Year’s card.
This card uses the Memories and More Card Packs. These packs are designed for scrapbook pages, but can easily be trimmed to fit mats and accents on cards too. For all the measurements and a supply list please go to https://youtu.be/G9JJNgqKido.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!
Did you know that the masks (some call them stencils) can be used for more than embossing paste?
In this case grab a Stampin’ Blend or two or three and create a background.

Have you tried this? If so, please post a picture of your creation on the facebook page, http://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Did you know that you could stamp on more than just plain card stock? This is why we have different inks.
For normal card stock with no glossy finish just use our classic ink pads.
For glossy card stock use staz-on ink. Currently we don’t sell glossy card stock but I know it’s out there.
For wood (like balsa wood) use memento or staz-on ink. It depends on what you are coloring with. If you are painting with acrylics or staining then staz-on is preferred. If you are coloring in with the blends (alcohol markers) then memento is the best choice.
For glass use staz-on. The higher the quality of glass the better image you will have. If it smeared simply remove quickly after stamping with a magic eraser. Then wash, dry, and try again.
For cork you can use either memento or staz-on but I prefer the staz-on.
For fabric memento works best for what we carry. There are fabric ink pads out there though.
And last, but not least, for handmade paper use our classic inks, memento, or staz-on. It really depends if you are coloring also.
I hope this is enough to keep that creative mojo flowing.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest and recharge so the rest of the week goes smoother.
Have you ever watched a little kid fight their nap? The little one is crying and carrying on about not needing to sleep as the dark circles under their eyes scream a different story. Do we carry on about resting or taking a day off much like a little one?
Did you know that if you rest your blood pressure goes down? With all that you get a sense of calm that overtakes you. You are able to think more clearly and make better decisions.
So why wouldn’t you want to rest? As I sit here and type it seems silly to say that someone would not want to rest, but indeed it happens.
“I’ll lose my train of thought. I will lose my momentum. I’m almost done.” And on it goes.
Next time you start to feel antsy block some time to rest. It might be what your body and mind needs to bring back calm.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
As this lockdown of certain businesses being closed continues I want to urge you to pick up the phone. Without a little bit of effort some of your favorite small businesses might just disappear for good. Show them that you are still here for them, not just waiting for things to get better.
Call your hairdresser and ask for products or a gift certificate. Call your local bar and see if they have your favorite cocktail to go. Do your kids on Christmas day usually go to the go karts? Get a certificate for a later date. Without our support many of these places will close for good.
I say this because we went to get something screen printed for a Christmas gift and our favorite shop was closed. Phone was disconnected and the lock was on the building. No communication, no nothing.
So if you have a favorite place to get your favorite drink, smoothie, burger, embroidery work, whatever…show them! Stop waiting for things to get better. For many, if we wait, things may not come back.
Happy Crafting!
With inky fingers,
Joni 🙂
P.S. This is not about me. I am not in jeopardy of closing. But several places are close to shutting. Be kind and show your support.
It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I want to show you two different ways to emboss and talk about the traditional way.
The traditional way is to ink your stamp with the Versamark Ink, stamp, sprinkle with powder, and then heat. Usually in this way you get your color from the powder.
The second way is to stamp with the Versamark Ink, then go directly into whatever color you want, sprinkle with clear powder, and then heat. (the photo on the left)

The third way to emboss is to grab a piece of colored card stock (in this case Bermuda Bay). Stamp your sentiment with Versamark Ink, sprinkle with clear powder, and then heat. Then go over the entire piece with a black marker (brush tip side). This results in the picture on the right.
If you try this technique please leave your photo of your project in the comments.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!
Did you know that a marker can be used to color our card stock? Of course you did! But, did you know that little marker can change the entire look of your card?
Here is a card with embossing done in two totally different ways and one way is to use a black marker to create an intense background.

Please watch at noon on http://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni to see how all of this is done.
