Please be watching this week as there will be some awesome announcements for how classes are changing and a bonus to boost your last days of Sale-A-Bration!
It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
I have to say this has been a challenging week. The mountain was tall but I can almost see the top (until the next one). My daughter moved out for college this week. Do I need to say more? Many of you know already. And many of you have gone through the same thing so you really do know.
So I do have to say thank you. Thank you for the extra prayers, the thoughts, texts, calls, etc. Your touches were truly felt.
But now I have something different to ask. When you create a card for Easter or whatever could you send an extra one to a college kid? Please contact me if you would like her address.
Thank you for being a part of this crafty family!
If you have a need that can be impacted by a card being sent please contact me.
It’s Tutorial Thursday! Usually I would have a tutorial but I have to say that things have been a bit up in the air lately. You see my only daughter moved away yesterday. She found her own apartment and is off to college. So forgive me for no tutorial. Instead I want to share a hidden gem with all of you.
So you know that I get my ideas from everywhere. Here are just a few of the places I look for those cute creations.
YouTube
Pinterest
Google (and then click on images)
Demonstrator chat boards
Facebook Groups
Shops
And so much more!
But I also follow the blog called So Shelli. So Shelli is written by our co-founder Shelli Gardner and gives a perspective to Stampin’ Up! that many do not see. You do not have to be a demonstrator to follow or subscribe to this blog. You simply have to sit down, read, and maybe even comment. So I would encourage you to take a look. Here’s the link…https://www.soshelli.com/.
Thank you for grace. Next week I will be back and running again. Just needed a minute to pack up, truck, and organize my baby’s new life.
It’s Wacky Wednesday! This is the day where a product is used in a way it is not intended!
Today we are talking about starting those spring or Easter cards. And, let me guess, you haven’t ordered much yet for Easter. Well, believe it or not, I am right there with you. I have a couple of sets but I am not quite ready. (That’s what next week is for.) So instead of panicking, let’s take some of what we already have and re-purpose it. That is what you thought I was going to say, right? 🙂
Many of you have purchased the Double Oval Punch. Did you know that the scallop can double as an edge of a cracked egg? So let’s punch the egg from the straight-edged oval, cut the egg in half (or a third and two thirds), and then punch the “cracked edge” with the scallop. Tip: You might need a post it note to get that small half of the oval lined up in the punch.
Isn’t that cute?
When you create your own please post to my page, https://www.facebook.com/StampingWithJoni. Simply use the link or go to Facebook and search for my page “Stamping With Joni and the Red Door Crafters”. When you are on the page simply click to create post and make sure to post when done. I look forward to seeing your creations.
It’s Technique Tuesday! Do you know how to create a border with little effort?
Grab your stylus and go around the edge of your die cutout to create a raised edge or border. You will want to leave the card stock in the die to more easily create that bump. One other tip is to grab your pierce mat to provide some cushion to get a more in depth image.
Let me know if you try this technique and if you like it.
So here’s the contest. From now until midnight of Monday, February 15 finish some of those piles. Take a picture of the project before (unfinished) and after (finished). Then post those pictures on my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni. For each post I will give you an entry to have a chance to win the host bonus set Punch Party. The winner will be drawn and announced on Tuesday the 16th.
Open Day is today! I have one spot open this morning and I am full tonight. Let me know if you are coming this morning. Please be looking for the invitation for next week’s sessions on Thursday at 6 am.
This week I will not be doing a Facebook Live as I have some family things that need to be taken care of. Please join me next week on the 24th.
You have until Wednesday the 17th to get Betty’s Bonus.
This runs from now until February 17.
This is an exclusive bonus requested by Betty. In order to qualify for this bonus you need to place an order of $50 or more in product by February 17 at 7:30 pm. (This counts for Club.) Please use the link http://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=SPG6PHSG to qualify. I would suggest to create the 10 cards that you order the Dragonfly Garden Bundle and the stamp set Comfort & Hope. Save the date for the Spring/Easter Class on Saturday, February 27 from 10-1 or 3-6. We will be creating with the new Gilded Leafing Embellishment.
It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can be recharged for the week.
As I sit here typing this blog I am also thinking about a million things. My mind wanders off about what I need to get at the grocery store, what is needed to start the next semester of college for my daughter, and where Joel (hubby) is next week when I have a dental appointment. I try to reel my thoughts back in so I can finish writing, but I am having trouble focusing. I am reminded that I need to block some time off to relax.
Relaxing will allow my brain to reset. It will bring things back to focus again. The distractions will melt away. I am reminded that I need to rest as the knots in my shoulders kink up just a bit more.
Sometimes before resting a massage is in order. Sometimes you need help breaking down the stubborn things in life before you can let go.
What needs to be broken down or simplified for you so you can truly rest and relax?
Did you know I have a halfway contest happening right now through the 15th of February? Here are the details.
From now until midnight of Monday, February 15 finish some of those piles. Take a picture of the project before (unfinished) and after (finished). It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
Do you know the history of Saint Valentine? He was a martyr that was killed for wedding men at what was considered to be too young of an age. He argued that when you find love no age limitations can be put on it.
Geoffrey Chaucer, the English poet, was the first to record St. Valentine’s Day as a day of celebrating romance. This was composed in his poem “Parliament of Foules” in 1375. After this sending Valentine greetings gradually became more popular. The earliest known Valentine greeting in the Americas was in the early 1700s.
I say all this to give you a bit of perspective of why we do what we do. So with Valentine’s Day in just two days I would encourage you to pen a note or send a card, romantic or not, to a dear friend or loved one in honor of Saint Valentine.
It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I want to show you how to braid a card.
You are reading this correct. I said braiding a card. I did not say braiding your hair. So imagine the ability to interweave card stock so it elegantly comes together to look seamless. It creates an air of sophistication that is rarely seen by something so easy. Usually when a card looks complicated it is. It takes tons of time and much thought. But today’s card is super simple.
