How to Mask a Banner

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to show you how to mask a part of a banner.

This banner comes out of the Hello Harvest Cling Stamp Set. For this technique I used Sweet Sorbet and Starry Sky to show you the contrasting colors.

First, place your stamp on a block.

Second, cut the Masking Tape with your Snips to fit inside the words. Then peel and stick to the words.

Then ink as usual. Please remember to take the Masking Tape off before stamping.

Then clean the stamp as usual and re-ink with the Starry Sky Stampin’ Write Marker. I used the brush tip.

If you create with this technique please post your project to my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Breaking the Routine to Rest

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest so you can be recharged the rest of the week.

Recently I overdid at the gym and my heel has been “thanking” me ever since. I don’t say this for pity. I say this to remind you and me that not everything can be done by everybody. We have to know our limits and even then we still get hurt. So this week I have been staying off my feet and taking a minute to regroup.

I say this because sometimes something happens that forces us to change paths. My goals haven’t changed to move every day. But how I move definitely has. If the goal is a priority don’t change the goal if there is a roadblock, but instead change how you get there.

For me I may not be running, but I will be biking, rowing, walking, or anything else I can do. Don’t give up but remember to change your course if necessary.

Ways to Help Out

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I am always skimming through the internet for uplifting articles. Well today I found one. This one gives 12 ways to give back. Here are just a few that caught my eye.

  • Volunteer to help your child’s teacher or any teacher.
  • Be a coupon fairy. The coupons that you don’t use leave on the shelf for someone else.
  • Put together a back pack with school supplies.
  • Invite others to join the pay it forward chain.

To read the entire article please go to https://www.onecrazyhouse.com/12-ways-to-start-a-pay-it-forward-chain/.

When a pumpkin becomes a man.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Today I want to show you how a pumpkin can become a man. I am not talking about the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, but instead I am talking about the Rustic Pumpkin Dies. Do you remember me saying to look at everything right side up, sideways, and upside down? Well today is a little bit of all three.

I was going for Mr. Potato Head but I am not sure I quite hit that. I think this card is a cross between Mr. Potato Head, Corn Julio, and a monkey. What do you think?

But do you see the pumpkin dies? And the mustache was done with the Tulip Punch.

Remember to look at everything you have from all angles.

Happy Crafting!

Joni 🙂

Cleaning Up

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to remind you to clean up after you emboss.

For this card I took a Versamark Pad to the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. I then placed the Basic White Card Stock on the folder and ran it like normal through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Quickly I dumped an entire bottle of Gold Embossing Powder on top of the paper. I then shook off the excess and got to heating with the Heat Tool.

After I heated it thoroughly I gave it a second to cool down. Then I took my Blending Brush and began to add Starry Sky Ink to it. The result was gorgeous and almost looked like it was coming off the page. And here is probably the most important part, I wiped the excess ink off with a paper towel so that gold really showed through.

Make sure when emboss resisting you clean up after each step. First, cap your ink pad so the embossing powder doesn’t get in it. Second, put your embossing powder back in the bottle. And third, make sure to wipe off that excess ink.

When you create with this technique please post your project on my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Happy Crafting!

Joni 🙂
