It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are using a slightly embossed frame to break up a busy pattern.
For this card I am using Rococo Rose Card Stock with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder to break up the Love You Always Specialty Designer Series Paper.
Along with the Tasteful Textiles I also used two other embossing folders for the hearts. Can you guess which two folders I used? Place your answers in the comments.
It’s Management Monday! Here is what’s happening this week!
Here is the new contest only through me and it is halfway through. Since we are halfway through Sale-A-Bration I figured there were probably some other things that are halfway as well. Do you have any unfinished projects? Don’t be ashamed, I do too.
So here’s the contest. From now until midnight of Monday, February 15 finish some of those piles. Take a picture of the project before (unfinished) and after (finished). Then post those pictures on my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni. For each post I will give you an entry to have a chance to win the host bonus set Punch Party. The winner will be drawn and announced on Tuesday the 16th.
Open Day is today! I am full this morning and have two openings tonight. Please be looking for the invitation for next week’s sessions on Thursday at 6 am.
This week my Facebook Live will be on braided cards.
Please reserve your seat for Card Class! The deadline for Thursday’s Class is tonight and there is one seat left! (You have until Wednesday for Saturdays’ sessions.)
You have until the 17th to get Betty’s Bonus. Contact me for more details on how to get the bonus materials for 10 cards!
It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can be recharged for the rest of the week.
So I have to ask you…do you let yourself rest? This, for me, is very difficult so I wouldn’t be surprised if you said that you struggled with this as well.
Being a wife and mom there is always something to be done. Always! If everything is done to a point where I can sit down then someone is probably calling my name. Recently my daughter has gotten into this phase that she wants me to sit, listen, and talk. In the beginning this was very hard for me. Usually when I talk to her I am also cooking dinner or throwing a load of clothes into the washer. But now it has become something I look forward to. Something that allows my mind to change gears and re-adjust if needed.
I would encourage you to take the time to rest. Allow yourself the change of pace. In the beginning it will be difficult, but soon it will be less of a challenge. Just to relax, change up the routine, and give yourself a minute to re-group.
It’s Sale Saturday! Sale-A-Bration is over half done!
I do need to remind you to not wait to order. Sale-A-Bration this year is only through the end of February, not March. Yes, it changed this year. But don’t feel short changed. We only have Sale-A-Bration from January through February because we also get to Sale-A-Brate again in July and August. That’s right. Another whole time to Sale-A-Brate.
This also changes the brochures. There is only one brochure, not a second or even third. There will be an additional flyer with two new stamp sets with coordinating dies starting in February, but not a whole other brochure.
Here is the flyer for the new stamps and dies for Hey Chick!
Did you know I have a halfway contest happening right now through the 15th of February? Here are the details.
Also ask me for more details for Betty’s Bonus! If you order $50 or more by February 17 you get a bonus of 10 cards with envelopes. The details are after the photo.
This is an exclusive bonus requested by Betty. In order to qualify for this bonus you need to place an order of $50 or more in product by February 17 at 7:30 pm. (This counts for Club.) Please use the link http://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=SPG6PHSG to qualify. I would suggest to create the 10 cards that you order the Dragonfly Garden Bundle and the stamp set Comfort & Hope. For the bonus you will get mailed separately the Dandy Laser-Cut Paper, Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems, materials to create the 10 cards with envelopes, and the template for the one sheet wonder technique.
It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.
So I have to ask you…do you know your neighbors? Do you want to?
This was mentioned as a friend pulled up in my driveway. “It’s different in your neighborhood. No one seems to talk to each other.” I am surrounded by renters instead of owners so my neighborhood is generally a little stand-offish. Every 2-3 months I get a new neighbor. And while I try to be friendly it is just not the same as someone who owns and lives next door for years.
While I don’t have close neighbors that live nearby I have great neighbors in town. I have great friends that I can call on. It is amazing how a friend can help so much more than a fence can. Instead of building a wall talk about what’s happening down the block. There might be a reason for something happening or maybe what is a big deal to you isn’t to someone else. It’s amazing what connection can do to help with life. So don’t be afraid to reach out. Create a card with something baked. Valentine’s Day is coming up. Use the holiday as an excuse to reach out.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I usually write out a tutorial and have a live video to coordinate. Since I took off yesterday there is no video. So, instead, I want to focus on the kits that Stampin’ Up! has. They come with full instructions (sometimes in color) and everything you need to create. So if you are looking for a complete tutorial and something you can finish this might just be your thing.
I am only focusing on the kits that are in the Mini Catalog but there are more with Paper Pumpkin as well as the Annual Catalog. If you look in the Mini Catalog at pages 5-9 you will see the kits.
On page 7 there is the You are Amazing Kit. This has tons of materials to create 16 cards plus some extras and a cute box for storage. This is not an all inclusive kit since the stamp set, ink, and adhesive is not included.
Here is the Flowering Cactus Product Medley. This would almost be considered an inclusive kit since it has materials to create 40+ cards. You don’t need the stamps and dies this time, but you do still need the ink, adhesive, card bases, and envelopes.
There is also a refill kit that includes everything above except for the stamps and dies.
It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!
Today’s product is still being used for what it is intended. It’s the outcome that is not foreseen.
So, I have a joke for you…what do you get when you put a triangle and a circle together? Someone always trying to convince the other that there angle is the only right one. Get it? I thought it was funny, but here is the real reason for putting the two together, to get a keyhole.
I was asked recently to help create a card with a mystery or sleuth theme to it. I couldn’t really figure anything out and then by accident voila. I had a keyhole. I was actually trying to make a tab and cut too far and presto I had what was needed. Needed for another project, but needed nonetheless.
It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are talking about how sponging creates a bit of a pop or wow on your project.
Recently I started creating with the Dandy Laser-Cut Paper.
This paper, while it is gorgeous, is all the same color. It is very delicate so using the sponge brayer, dauber, or much of any other tool is out. So, instead, I picked up my sponge. I figured I could feel how hard I was pushing or if the paper began to twist so I could stop before it tore. And it worked! I was able to create some color and depth to my cards.
What do you think? Just adding a pop of color changes the entire look of your project.

This week I will not be doing my Facebook Live. I will be taking the day to celebrate my 25th Anniversary instead! Join me next week!
Please save the date for the next Card Class on Thursday, February 11 or Saturday, February 13!
And don’t forget I will be announcing the exclusive projects for Betty’s Kit in the next few days!
It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can recharge for the week.
Do you ever feel like a piece of meat? Have you ever been compared to a good steak? Well…here it goes. You are like a good, thick, juicy steak. Let me explain.
You go through life experiencing hardships that beat you up or tenderize you. They soften you up so you can continue to learn and soak up life, much like a marinade. Then comes the test, the fire. This is where you come full circle and learn from your mistakes and see how much of those life lessons (marinade) have soaked in. After that fire you need to rest for a bit. Just like a steak needs to rest before it gets cut in to.
After going through a hard spell (being put through the fire) don’t forget to rest.
