How to make a keyhole.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Today’s product is still being used for what it is intended. It’s the outcome that is not foreseen.

So, I have a joke for you…what do you get when you put a triangle and a circle together? Someone always trying to convince the other that there angle is the only right one. Get it? I thought it was funny, but here is the real reason for putting the two together, to get a keyhole.

I was asked recently to help create a card with a mystery or sleuth theme to it. I couldn’t really figure anything out and then by accident voila. I had a keyhole. I was actually trying to make a tab and cut too far and presto I had what was needed. Needed for another project, but needed nonetheless.

Here’s a photo of the infamous keyhole.

What have you made that was not intended?

P.S. Don’t forget about the halfway contest. Post your before and after projects on the page. For more information please look at Monday’s post at https://stampingwithjoni.wordpress.com/2021/02/01/new-contest-closed-wednesday-and-more/. Good luck!

Sponging adds a pop.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today we are talking about how sponging creates a bit of a pop or wow on your project.

Recently I started creating with the Dandy Laser-Cut Paper.

This paper, while it is gorgeous, is all the same color. It is very delicate so using the sponge brayer, dauber, or much of any other tool is out. So, instead, I picked up my sponge. I figured I could feel how hard I was pushing or if the paper began to twist so I could stop before it tore. And it worked! I was able to create some color and depth to my cards.

What do you think? Just adding a pop of color changes the entire look of your project.

New contest, closed Wednesday, and more!

It’s Management Monday! Here is what’s happening this week!

Here is the new contest only through me. Since we are halfway through Sale-A-Bration I figured there were probably some other things that are halfway as well. Do you have any unfinished projects? Don’t be ashamed, I do too.

So here’s the contest. From now until midnight of Monday, February 15 finish some of those piles. Take a picture of the project before (unfinished) and after (finished). Then post those pictures on my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni. For each post I will give you an entry to have a chance to win the host bonus set Punch Party. The winner will be drawn and announced on Tuesday the 16th.

Open Day is today! I am full this morning and have one opening tonight. Please be looking for the invitation for next week’s sessions on Thursday at 6 am.

This week I will not be doing my Facebook Live. I will be taking the day to celebrate my 25th Anniversary instead! Join me next week!

Just like a good steak.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can recharge for the week.

Do you ever feel like a piece of meat? Have you ever been compared to a good steak? Well…here it goes. You are like a good, thick, juicy steak. Let me explain.

You go through life experiencing hardships that beat you up or tenderize you. They soften you up so you can continue to learn and soak up life, much like a marinade. Then comes the test, the fire. This is where you come full circle and learn from your mistakes and see how much of those life lessons (marinade) have soaked in. After that fire you need to rest for a bit. Just like a steak needs to rest before it gets cut in to.

After going through a hard spell (being put through the fire) don’t forget to rest.

Watch for a halfway raffle!

It’s Sale Saturday! Sale-A-Bration is almost half over! Tomorrow will be officially half way.

Be watching on Monday, February 1st for the halfway contest through me posted right here.

I do need to remind you to not wait to order. Sale-A-Bration this year is only through the end of February, not March. Yes, it changed this year. But don’t feel short changed. We only have Sale-A-Bration from January through February because we also get to Sale-A-Brate again in July and August. That’s right. Another whole time to Sale-A-Brate.

This also changes the brochures. There is only one brochure, not a second or even third. There will be an additional flyer with two new stamp sets with coordinating dies starting in February, but not a whole other brochure.

Here are some samples created from the new sets. Be looking for the flyer on Monday.

So if you would like to order please use host link https://www.stampinup.com?hostcode=JZRX29E7 through Monday night at 7:30 pm.

It’s the little things.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I was asked recently by a friend how I am keeping a positive attitude in the midst of all the turmoil. I hadn’t really thought about it. My response was because “it matters”. Every little thing matters, including you.

When I check out of the grocery store, say hello to a friend, or simply be in the presence of other people…it matters. I am reminded of the book called The Tipping Point. A whole town was changed by one person’s small, but consistent, actions.

I don’t know who it matters to but I know it does. Here’s to making a difference, no matter how small, one smile at a time.

How to blend at the beach.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I will show you how to create a beach or landscape scene without leaving your home all while blending in.

For this project you will need a card base, outer mat, inner mat, and adhesive. You will also need a bunch of ink pads and the new Blending Brushes.

Peeling off the layers.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Today we are talking about scotch tape. You know the kind you use to tape packages together. I know it’s not from the Stampin’ Up! world but it helps in this world.

So I take a piece of the Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate and I need to peel the film off. Did you know there was a piece of film? In order to protect the foil and not have it scratched in shipping there is a piece of film on the back or silver side. This runs the entire length of the 12X12 page.

Sometimes you can simply find a part that is bubbling up and peel. But if everything is still flat then it is difficult to find an edge to start with. Instead grab a piece of scotch tape and on one side fold it back on itself. This is to create a tab to hold on to. Then place the sticky portion on the silver side. Rub a little to get it adhered. Then slowly begin to pull.

Adding color to ribbon.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Here’s a quick tip on how to not break the bank with ribbon.

Have you ever felt like you need everything to coordinate, get everything in your cart, and realize that your card for your uncle is now costing you over $90? Well, here’s one way to cut a corner. Buy a neutral ribbon (vanilla or white) and grab your Stampin’ Blends.

Instead of buying every color under the sun of ribbon to coordinate just buy one or two spools of a white or vanilla. I say two because you might want a lacy one and maybe a more plain one. Then grab your Stampin’ Blends and get to coloring. Open that marker and use the brush tip to get in all those woven spaces. Let dry a couple of minutes and you now have coordinating ribbon.

Tip: Make sure to have a scrap mat or paper down when coloring.
