It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today we are talking about using a border punch to create a card front. No, this is not Wednesday. It really is Thursday.

You want to take the Evergreen Border Punch and cut your piece of card stock just slightly taller and wider than the middle of the punch. This will allow a frame to stay after punching so you have this great card front.

You can emboss this piece or even embellish it. But, for today, I left it plain.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Today I want to show you how to make the gems or embellishments the focal point. Often gems are the finishing touches but today they are the main event.

I created this card to showcase the gems by adding tons of texture and layers but no color.

It’s very simple yet elegant. What do you think?

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to focus on the mistakes. Yes, the mistakes.

Do not try to be perfect, cuz it ain’t gonna happen! Embrace the fingerprints, smudges, halos, and anything else that happens. Place a punch, embellishment, or accent over it. Or embrace it and put a whole bunch more fingerprints. Just don’t allow those mistakes to stop you from creating.

Realize that it’s so much more than just making a “perfect” card. It’s the whole process and how you feel when you are finished. So finish! Mail it! And understand that usually the recipient will love it so much more because it came from you.

So embrace your smudges and go get creative.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can recharge for the week.

This week my daughter’s truck broke good and the transmission is getting re-built. Do you know how good it felt to actually get it to the garage or shop and have someone trained look at it? It was a weight off my shoulders. Now I am not always wondering if she will get stuck.

My point is this…sometimes it is best to hand over your problem to the experts so you don’t spend all your energy trying to figure something out. I am good at a bunch of things but transmissions is not one of them.

So the next time you have a problem ask yourself if you will spend more time trying to figure it out than it is worth.

Here’s to resting in someone else’s expertise.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or pay it forward.

Sometimes the best way to give back is to be present. Recently my daughter’s truck broke down and she was stuck on the side of the road with herself, her truck, and a friend. She wasn’t sure if this person was someone that was more than an acquaintance, but they have since become a good friend.

It’s amazing to me how a simple moment of bad luck with the right person can become somewhat perfect.

What’s happened to you that has shown the good in people?
