Through the good, the bad, and sometimes the ugly.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I have to say that for me the ones closest often get the brunt of me. They get me when my hair is not done. They get me when I am sweaty from the gym. They get me venting. And even when I am owning the bad attitude.

I have to remind myself to be nice to the ones closest to me. This, of course, mainly includes my hubby. My daughter is sometimes thrown into this ring with a handful of friends as well. So the next time I think about keeping my hair up and not doing it, I need to do it anyways. The next time I smell iffy…go hit the shower. And remember to talk about the good things as well as the bad ones. This way they see both sides of the story as well as some of the craziness too.

This is as much of a reminder for me as it is for you. Be nice to the ones you live with. After all, they will be the ones to pick you up literally and figuratively.

Stamping off to create an entire card.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I want to show you that not re-inking is sometimes the answer.

For this card I did not re-ink the stamp and just kept going until all the space was filled. It also helps that the background paper, Expressions in Ink, helped in the design.

So which one do you like better, the left or right?

When you comment on the video before Tuesday the 24th you will get full instructions via email.

Cut it at a slant.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

I know in the past we have cut the Designer Series Paper in half to showcase the two sides of paper. Usually the seam has been covered by coordinating ribbon or even another scrap of paper from the same set.

Well, today, I want to show you how to cut that same Designer Series Paper at a slant. You will need two pieces to be able to do this since when you are cutting you will need the triangle to go the same way. So you will be creating two cards instead of one.

If you create with this tip please post your creation on http://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Looking like fall.

It’s Technique Tuesday! I know it’s still a million degrees outside but I have hope that the Fall season is coming. Maybe to bring it a bit sooner we can all create projects with an autumn theme.

Today’s technique is how to directly watercolor on to a block or stamp. In this case I used the stamps from Beauty of Friendship. I first stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink and then tapped the edges in Cajun Craze Ink. Next I filled the barrel of my Stampin’ Spritzer with water and sprayed the stamp just until I saw the ink start to bubble. Then I stamped it on my card stock to create a beautifully colored autumn tree.

If you give this technique a try please don’t hesitate to post your creations on the Facebook page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Running out of air.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest so you can be recharged for the week.

I think I can safely say that most of you have a car. And I also think I can say that most of those cars have air conditioning in them. So let me ask you…if your air stops running cold what do you do? Do you deal with it? Do you take your car to a shop or mechanic? Or do you try to fix it yourself?

Sometimes the fix is a simple recharge and other times there is a leak that requires a complete overhaul of the system. The hardest part is determining whether to fix it or start over with a new or used vehicle.

And at this point you are probably wondering why I am talking about cars and air conditioning. Let me bring it back to the point of today.

If you don’t take regular breaks and recharge you will find yourself with a leak or a bigger problem. Take time to diagnose and fix the problem before you have to do a huge overhaul. I firmly believe in taking a little bit of time each day to take care of yourself whether that be a cup of tea, music, a trip to the gym, or whatever it takes to check out for a second to reset.

What do you do to hit reset and get charged back up?

Happy Crafting!

P.S. For me it’s usually a quick trip to the gym.

It’s Sale Saturday!

And some days you need to create.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Sometimes you give back by buying lunch, returning a smile, or volunteering your time. And sometimes you give back with your time and donate cards.

I recently got a message from Operation Gratitude needing cards. Please plan on stopping by on the 21st to create and donate. If you can’t make it I will gladly take cash to pay for postage.

How to color that new paper.

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I want to show you how to create a card that uses the Be Dazzling 6X6 Specialty Paper.

You will need a card base, mat, word die cuts, adhesive sheet, sparkly paper, spritzer, alcohol, and ink. And don’t forget the paper towels!

First you fill the spritzer three quarters of the way with rubbing alcohol. Then you drop ink from the ink refills. Tip: You will need about 12 drops since you want it darker than you think. After it dries the overlay is much lighter. Spray the Be Dazzling Paper with the spritzer full of ink. Let dry. Tip: If you want to hurry it then you can dry with the Heat Tool on low.

Then cut out your words after placing the adhesive sheet behind it. This will make it a sticker and easy to attach. Stamp your sentiment on a little piece of white card stock. (You can also use vanilla.)

After everything is dry attach in order from card base to mat to sparkles to accents. Don’t forget the bling.
