It’s all about different perspectives.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Did you know that when you give back or pay it forward to someone else you have to think of that person’s needs or wants? You put aside your perspective and focus on how that other person will perceive what you are giving to them. Will it be of value to them? Does it show effort on your part? Is it something they need?

These are all questions that are considered when giving to someone else. I love how the focus shifts from myself to that other person when considering them. It forces me to look at the world through their eyes for just a moment. This allows me to understand what someone else is going through better than just reading about it. It’s the ability to broaden my perspective and hopefully gain wisdom.

What opportunities will you take to gain a different perspective?

How to get organized with a window sheet and some tape.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Do you have a drawer or bin full of a big tangle of ribbons? Then use a window sheet to get things back organized.

Cut a window sheet to about 5″ X 4″. Then tape the ends of the ribbon on to the sheet, spool, and tape the end so it doesn’t unravel.

Here’s the before picture.

And here is the after.

If you use this technique please post photos of your before and after on my page, https://www.facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

How to save paper.

It’s Technique Tuesday! I want to remind you when you have a mat that will be covered to punch out some labels or accents.

In this case I die cut out the accent piece.

What is your most commonly cut out shape when cutting out on a mat?

Resting to restore energy.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest to recharge for the week.

Rest is not just getting enough sleep. It’s also being at peace, knowing you did your best, exercising, and so much more. It’s being at peace mentally, physically, and spiritually.

If you’ve been run down go to bed a bit earlier so you get a little extra sleep. I know when my body is sore I tend to need a little extra zzz’s to mend those muscles.

If you can’t focus, are restless, or indecisive you might need to rest mentally. My way of doing this is to check out in the gym. You can also start to take walks as the weather is starting to cool off. You might also need to turn off the social media and/or news for a bit to allow your brain to reset.

And if you are feeling a bit impatient or on edge you might need an emotional rest. Talk to a friend to get it out and stay away from those that are negative or bring out the negative in you.

However you need to rest make sure to find a way to release so you are content to be where you are.

P.S. Don’t forget about the Clearance Rack!

Can one person make a difference?

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I don’t know about you but I have found myself doubting what I am doing more in the last two years than I ever have. What meaning or purpose does it have? Does it make enough difference to continue with the effort? These are doubts that run through my head in those low, quiet times. They are not there all the time, but often enough to make myself question things occasionally. Do you have moments like this?

And what I need to remember is that in my memories those pivotal moments were not usually big events. Usually it was a teacher, mentor, or friend simply leaning over and smiling. It was a friend sending a card or a big hug from that favorite auntie. The gestures don’t have to be big, but intentional.

These memories remind me to remember the smiles on crafters’ faces, the laughter, and the friendships that are started over stamps, ink, and paper. In those moments of doubts I remember what Mother Teresa said. “If you can’t feed a hundred people, feed just one.” I may not be able to reach thousands but I can touch you. And if today has more laughs and smiles because of card class or whatever event then I have achieved so much success. This year I am being taught to be present. Don’t overthink and enjoy the moments. Thank you for being part of those moments with me.

What moments will you create?

Cutting a die in half for effect.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

Did you know that if you cut something out and it is too big you can trim it down? In this case I cut one of the flowers from the Summer Shadow Dies in half and used it in two places.

If you use this technique please post your creation on my Facebook page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.
