Pinterest for Ideas

It’s Technique Tuesday! Have you hit a creative rut? The more you sit and stare at your crafting space the more frustrated you get? I can understand that all too well. I have gone through periods of time where there is just no creative mojo. So I thought I would give you an idea on how to find some project ideas. Because without ideas you have no techniques.

I usually go to Pinterest. I search for a certain stamp set or even a specific catalog. And the ideas are there in an overwhelming wave.

Did you know I have a Pinterest page? You can follow me as all of the projects I create end up there. Here is the link to the page, http://www.pinterest.com/stampingwithjoni.

I am open today for Open Day sessions.

Saturday I will be up at the Landers 2nd Saturday Craft Fair at Belfield Hall from 10-2! Come out to see what’s new.

And if you didn’t know, this is the start of the new year for you! This is when the Open House has just finished, all the VIP’s have been recognized, and now it’s time to start over. So would you like to be a VIP?

Here’s what this means…extra gifts during the Open House, first call for BOGO, priority shopping for the Rubber Rummage Sale, and more!

So how do you become a VIP? Glad you asked.

  • Host a class. The location is up to you, projects are up to you, and the food too! All that is required is that you invite and that two crafters attend.
  • Order $150 or more in product in one order.
  • Join my Team. That doesn’t mean you have to do classes, fairs, or events. There is no risk, no credit checks, and you don’t pay shipping or tax (since you have a 20% discount). So…the catch…oh yes, buy (or sell) $300 of product per quarter. That’s it. For more details please go to https://stampingwithjoni.wordpress.com/benefits-to-being-a-part-of-the-team/.

Swapping Chores

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest so you can be recharged for the week.

Well, today is Mother’s Day. For all of you out there that are a Mom or have helped raise kids Happy Mother’s Day.

I want to share with you a bit of a story right now. The day starts like any other but today is supposed to be different. It’s Mother’s Day. It’s assumed that the cooking shifts over to my husband and daughter just for today. So the clanking and banging begins in the kitchen. It’s a bit louder than usual but it’s okay. Nothing’s broken. It’s a bit of a mess, nothing a mop can’t fix. As brunch hits the table my husband asks me how do you time everything with ease? I say one simple word…practice.

In that moment there was a bit of a shift. He has taken a moment to do what I do and realizes that it takes a minute to perfect the ease of managing everything. You have to let things go so you can appreciate each other. If you do what he does and vice versa you have a better appreciation for what each person goes through with the chores they take on to keep the house running.

Once in a while change things up so you can understand what each person does. I know for me this has led to a better understanding of what happens around here. It has also allowed a bit of progress in some routines that may not have been working efficiently. Don’t be afraid to change things up once in a while.

Living a life brightly.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Have you ever noticed how you can walk into a room and you can sense that the mood is light or that it has a bit of a gloomy tone? I have. I have also wondered if I am adding to that mood by being there.

I had one particular social gathering that I walked in and I just knew something was off or wrong. No one would say anything but you could just sense it. So I walked in with a smile and was determined to bring light into that event. Every encounter I pointed out the silver lining. Every brush with someone was met with a smile. And by the end of the night the room’s heaviness had diminished. I am sure there was more than just me trying to brighten things, but I want to think that I may have helped to a certain extent.

This is where this is all leading. I have a point. Do not be afraid to be the light in that room. You will not shorten your existence by shining brightly. But that darkened room will be a little less overwhelming with more light. Share your light and make an impact.

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” – Buddha

Delicate Daffodil Bag

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I am going to show you how to create this delicate daffodil bag. It’s not a die but simply a sheet of card stock.

The supplies you will need are as follows:

  • Thick Basic White Card Stock
  • Basic White Card Stock
  • Blending Brush
  • Blender Pen
  • Mango Melody
  • Daffodil Daydream Bundle
  • 1/4″ Gold Shimmer Ribbon
  • Paper Trimmer
  • Double Oval Punch
  • Tear & Tape Adhesive
  • Dimensionals (regular and mini)
  1. For the outer bag cut with the Paper Trimmer the Thick Basic White Card Stock to 4 1/4″ X 11″. On the 11″ side score at 4 1/2″ and at 6 1/2″. Punch out the handle with the Double Oval Punch.
  2. The front and back panels are Basic White Card Stock cut to 4″ X 2 3/4″. You will need two of these. Use the Blending Brush to make yellow.
  3. The sides or insert for the bag are Basic White Card Stock cut to 3″ X 3 1/4″. Score on three sides at 1/2″. Do not score the top. Cut the corners out and place Tear & Tape on all three tabs or sides and bottom. Attach to bag.
  4. Stamp daffodil, butterfly, and sentiment in Mango Melody. Use Blender Pen to color. Attach with Dimensionals.
  5. Tie ribbon to finish.
