Help Someone to See Their True Value

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I recently came across this quote “the greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but reveal to them their own” (Disraeli). Disraeli was largely a statesmen or politician and was an author on the side. Regardless of his profession this quote spoke to me.

The best thing I can do for a friend is to encourage them. My encouragement will only last a moment if they don’t believe in themselves. So instead of bringing over something to make them feel better the wiser thing would be to spend time with them. It would be to talk to them to make them realize that they are more than capable of picking up their pieces and succeeding on their own. Now I am not saying a piece of chocolate cannot help the encouragement, but it will not be long-lasting.

Pop Up Graduation Card

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I want to show you how to create this pop up graduation card complete with tassel and envelope. For the card you will need:

  • Basic Black Card Stock cut with the Paper Trimmer to 11″X5 ½” and on the 11″ side scored at 5 ½ and 8 ¼. For the rest of the cuts and scoring please follow the diagram below.
  • You will need two pieces of Basic Black Card Stock cut with the Paper Trimmer to 4″X4″.
  • Keep the scraps of black card stock so you can cut two 1″ circles.
  • You will need to know your school colors at this point. For 29 Palms High School Wildcats the color is white, black, and an almost emerald green. I chose Shaded Spruce. Cut two squares at 5 1/4″ with the Trimmer. For further cuts please follow the diagram. You will also need a strip at 5 1/4″ X 1 1/4″.
  • Take a piece of Basic White Card Stock and cut two pieces to 5″ squares. Follow the diagram. You will also need one strip at 5″ X 1″.
  • For the words I used Peaceful Moments.
  • You will also need Black Twine, a brad, Take Your Pick Tool, and Shaded Spruce Ink.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! Today, for some reason, I cannot come up with a Wacky Wednesday. So, I will ask you, what’s your favorite Wacky Wednesday I have done?

Reflection Stamping

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to talk to you about reflection stamping. This is when you take the same stamp and flip it around on itself after stamping your initial image.

For this card you stamp the initial image like you normally do. Then you re-ink and stamp again, but this time you stamp the image on a silicone mat. You take the mat and position it over the card stock. After laying it down over then you simply rub the image on to the card stock. Tip: I opt to place the silicone mat on the card stock instead of the other way around simply so I can see the image as I am placing it.

Then I colored with the Watercolor Pencils and then Blender Pen.

When you create your project with this technique please post to https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Rest is not the same as sleep.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest so you can be recharged for the week.

When I google rest many of the images are perfectly cut lawns with someone peacefully swaying in a hammock. They are dosing and sometimes even have a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade by their side. But is rest always synonymous with napping or sleep? No, it is not.

Rest is all encompassing. Sometimes to get rest means more sleep. But sometimes it means to increase your physical and mental well-being. This can be done with more sleep sometimes. But it often requires a shift in stress levels or the ability to relax. This can be done in so many ways. Meditation, reading, taking a bath, walking, hiking are just a few examples. Basically anything you do that allows you to relax is rest.

It’s all in the action, not the intention.

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I have to say that lately I have been going through many of my coaching sites as I am restructuring my business. And while there is much differing opinion on how to get things done, one thing is consistent…TAKE ACTION. It doesn’t matter how good my intentions are. Without action they are meaningless.

So I would encourage you to actually mail the note or card to your friend. Pick up the phone and call. Drop off a favorite snack to someone close. Or simply spend a few minutes connecting again. Whatever it is…take action.

Happy Crafting!

With inky fingers,

Joni 🙂
