Knowing how you are.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can be recharged for the week.

How many times do you get asked during a day “how are you”? For me it depends if I walk into a store or not. But I would say no less than 5 times per day. And how do you answer? Sometimes it’s very surface level since I only have 30 seconds to interact with someone I don’t know. And other times it’s an in-depth conversation with my spouse or daughter. (I also have this conversation with the dog but he doesn’t tend to answer as well.)

I don’t know about you but when I am having an in-depth conversation I often find myself being too general about what’s going on. I often don’t know how to put things in words. So I found this chart to help you in maybe recognizing where you are.

Exercise isn’t always the answer to better mental health but for me it often is though. It’s amazing what a quick walk outside will do or simply a moment in the sunshine.

How will you get moving today?

Gifting to Uplift

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to give back or pay it forward.

My daughter recently was hired to work at Amazon. Until then she survived on hand me downs and the extras we could do for her. Now she is still surviving on those extras but now she has just a bit of cushion. With that cushion I am learning that she loves to give little things that remind her of me.

So now that I know this I need to step up my game. I am thinking of sending her a “lucky” box for St. Paddy’s Day.

What do you do to lift others up?

Dies can be furniture markers.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! This idea is actually from another demonstrator. She was having trouble stubbing her toe on her new table leg. So she decided to mark the leg with a die.

What tips do you have for products not used in the normal way?

Flying different directions.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today is more of a tip instead of a technique.

Take the Ladybug Builder Punch. You can create a ladybug or bee easily. The way the punch is designed is for the bug to be viewed from the top. But if you wanted to have the bug flying couldn’t you trim off one of the antennae? Then it would be side view and depending on which antennae you trimmed would be the direction it was going.

When you create from this technique please post a photo of your project to https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

The relationship between screen time and mental health.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can be recharged for the week.

Did you know that the amount of time you spend in front of a screen has a direct impact on your mental health? Screen time can be in front of your phone, computer, tablet, social media, television, and more. Any time you are in front of a screen.

Here are some points that hit me…

  • It has an impact on your self esteem especially as you are growing up.
  • It makes you have less time for physical activity.
  • It impacts your quality of sleep.

To lower the impact screen time has on you…

  • Have balance.
  • Turn off those notifications.
  • Prioritize what is important.

Impact

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

I want to remind you that what you may think may be just a little gesture might be the very thing that keeps someone going. I know for me it wasn’t the big things that mattered the most. It was the littlest of gestures that kept my head above water just a bit longer. And some days this was the difference between thriving and surviving.

So I want to encourage you to write and mail that card. Pick up the phone and make that phone call. Because every little thing adds up.

Please look up Nikki Banas. She is an author that focuses on helping to encourage and uplift. She has written a few books that all focus on healing and encouragement.

Happy Crafting!

Joni 🙂
