  • Take a piece of Bumblebee Card Stock and cut with the Paper Trimmer to 5 ¼” X 4”. Attach to your card base with Stampin’ Seal. This is your outer mat.
  • Take a piece of Flowering Fields 12×12 Designer Series Paper and cut with the Paper Trimmer to 5” X 3 ¾”. Attach your outer mat with Stampin’ Seal. This is your inner mat.
  • Take a piece of Basic White or Evening Evergreen Card Stock and cut with the Paper Trimmer to 2 ¼” X 3 ½”. This is your accent piece.

The Paper Makes the Card

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended! I have to tell you something…the paper makes the card. Did you know that?

When you pick your stamps and ink, also pick your paper. Color makes or breaks a card. For example, if you create an Easter card you generally pick more subtle colors, not anything bright. So color is key.

For this card I saw the design once I saw the new paper, Simply Marbelous 6X6 Designer Series Paper. Just look at those swirls.

Doesn’t that look just like an ice cream scoop?

When you create something out of the normal please take a photo of your project and post it to my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Make a Swatch

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to ask you a question. Have you ever created something and go back a few months later and wonder what you used?

For today’s technique it’s more of a tip…make a swatch or a sample. When coloring an accent piece I will make a sample palette so I can come back and make more just like it. (Now this is assuming you want to make more of this same piece.) So I stamp the image usually on Basic White Card Stock. Why? Because then my colors are true. Then I color it. But while I am coloring I am also putting a swipe of color to the side and writing what it is. That way when I go back to do it again I don’t have to rethink the entire project.

When you use this tip or technique please post a photo of your finished project on my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Actively Resting

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to focus on resting so you can be recharged for the week.

Sometimes a rest day is very inactive and sometimes it needs to be active but in a different way than the normal routine. If you have the energy then it is probably best to opt for the active rest day.

When I have an active rest day it is away from the gym. I clean the house, walk the dog, or take a hike (literally).

Here are some ideas to help you change up your routine so you can be recharged and ready to go.

  • Yoga
  • Swimming
  • Walking

Saltines and Ginger Ale

It’s Friendship Friday! This is the day to focus on giving back or paying it forward.

Recently my daughter was down with that stomach bug at her place. She is fortunate to have some close friends that dropped off saltines, ginger ale, medicine, and the like for her. When things get serious I am fortunate to have a close circle of friends to count on as well.

So who do you count on? Maybe send a card or give a call to say that you appreciate them.

Ombre Emboss Resist Calming Camellia Card

It’s Tutorial Thursday! Today I want to show you how to create an ombre emboss resist card from the Calming Camellia Stamp Set. The Calming Camellia Stamp Set is a host set that you get FREE as a bonus with any group orders totaling over $300 in product.

For the card:

  • Take a piece of Thick Basic White Card Stock cut with the Paper Trimmer to 4 ¼” X 11”. Score it on the 11” side at 5 ½”. This is your card base.
  • Take a piece of Fresh Freesia Card Stock cut with the Paper Trimmer to 3 ¾” X 5”. Attach to the card base with Stampin’ Seal. This is your outer mat.
  • Take a piece of Basic White Card Stock cut with the Paper Trimmer to 3 ½” X 4 ½”. Stamp with the large flower from Calming Camellia (host set for free with $300 in orders) first in Versamark Ink and then the color of your choice. Sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder and heat with Heat Tool. Tip: If wanting to do a watercolor wash and use a gold, silver, black, or white powder instead you might want to use the Watercolor Paper instead of the White. Attach to outer mat with Stampin’ Seal.
  • Tip: For ombre card stamp the lightest color of ink first, then the middle hue, and finally the darkest.

Stretching more than a punch.

It’s Wacky Wednesday where a product is used in a way it is not intended!

In the past I have talked about how to stretch a punch, but today I want to show you how to stretch a die. Cut your card stock just a sixteenth of an inch more narrow than the die. That way you can slide your card stock or paper through and up as shown below.

When you create with this tip please post your photo of your project on my page, https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Knowing which adhesive to use.

It’s Technique Tuesday! Today I want to show you how well our Adhesive Sheets work on the Vellum Card Stock.

Take a piece of Vellum and stamp, emboss, whatever on it. When you are done and want to adhere it to your project then use the Adhesive Sheets. You can barely see them. It’s amazing. Just remember to peel again so they stick.

And after I peeled the back off.

If you are curious I embossed the stem, leaves, and flower by stamping in Versamark Ink, then either Evening Evergreen or Poppy Parade Ink, sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder from the Basics Embossing Powder Set, heat with Heat Tool, adhere Adhesive Sheet, peel, and stick.

When you create something similar using this technique please post your photo to https://facebook.com/StampingWithJoni.

Joni 🙂
