Exfoliating your schedule.

It’s Sabbath Sunday! This is the day to rest so you can be recharged for the week.

Do you have a skincare routine? Do you periodically exfoliate your skin? What is the purpose of exfoliating? From what I understand the purpose is to take off the dead layers of skin so that your skin glows and doesn’t have a dull look to it. And now you’re probably wondering how this relates to a schedule.

Sometimes you have to exfoliate your schedule. When looking at how to scrub your schedule to reflect your priorities I went to the expert, Stephen Covey. In the article talking about the difference between prioritizing your schedule and scheduling your priorities here are some points that spoke to me.

  • Ask yourself how important the task is. Is it urgent or important or both or neither?
  • Should the task be delegated?
  • Does the task even need to be on the list at all?

When looking at a task and how much you get done in a day to accomplish your goals, you have to look at whether you are being efficient or effective with your time. “Efficiency is doing things right; Effectiveness is doing the right things.” (Peter Drucker) Where is your focus…being effective or efficient?

As I have gone full time with Stampin’ Up! and added more events I have been forced to look at this. My daily to-do list has definitely shifted in the last five years. Has yours as your life changes?

Well, I think I have rambled on long enough so I will leave you with a quote that has changed how I think about what is on the dreaded calendar.
